Data Error Cyclic Redundancy Check Fix
I'm getting a "Data error(Cyclic Redundancy Check)" message and a "format this disk" prompt every data error cyclic redundancy check initialize disk time I try to access the drive on another PC. At this point the owner is only really bothered about me getting data error cyclic redundancy check sd card a copy of his data because he doesn't have a backup (who'd have guessed that was coming!? :P). Does anyone have any ideas as to the best way to get the data off of this drive?

The below link has some ideas but a few people also note that whenever they've seen the issue they've noticed the drive deteriorate rapidly (which is the same for me), so I don't really want to just start blindly trying things. http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/71151-how-to-resolve-the-problem-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check?started_from=new_topic

OP Briser_fae_the_broch Jun 4, 2013 at 9:25 UTC Does not sound good - when you attach it to another PC does it make a repeated sound like the clutch sticking? If it does, you could try giving it a knock but I think it may be goosed. Did you attach it directly or with a USB disk caddy? 0 Mace OP Best Answer RoguePacket Jun 4, 2013 at 9:26 UTC Yes, drive is near dead. Likely, it is the logic board but can be more. Not sure of the drive format, drive size, or rough amount of data to be recovered. I didn't look at the drive size but I would imagine it was no bigger than a 320GB as the laptops getting on a bit now. No idea how much data he has on there, but I do know that his main worry is the photos he had on there. I did put my ea

data verification method your computer uses to check the data on your disks (hard disks like your hard data error cyclic redundancy check external hard drive raw drive and optical disks like CDs and DVDs). A cyclic redundancy check error can be caused by several different issues: registry corruption, a cluttered hard disk, an unsuccessful program installation, or https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/343697-recovering-data-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check misconfigured files. Regardless of the specific cause, the cyclic redundancy check error is a serious one and must be addressed to avoid potential data loss or even a total system failure system. Luckily, there are a few simple ways to address this problem using (free) disk utility software.[1] Steps Method 1 Running the CHKDSK Utility 1 Access the CHKDSK utility. CHKDSK (or http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Cyclic-Redundancy-Check-Error "check disk") is a built-in Windows utility that will scan and repair your drive's errors. It has the ability to find and repair a number of small errors or file corruptions that may be causing the cyclic redundancy error. Right click the drive you want to check, then click Properties->Tools. Under “Error Checking” click “Check Now”. If a CD or DVD disc is giving you this error it may be the result of a scratch or some dust. Try cleaning the disk with a soft cloth before anything else. Optical disk errors are often not repairable. If you get this error on a Mac (less common), first try the built-in Disk Utility and “Repair” the disk. 2 Decide on a basic versus an advanced scan. Check boxes to indicate if you’d like to do a basic check and repair or an advanced one - the default is the basic scan. The basic scan should take around 15-20 minutes while the advanced scan may take hours. Make sure you’ve got the time set aside and don't disturb the computer once it begins. 3 Rebo

When I use the drive again, I got this cyclic redundancy error and windows suggest to format the drive. I can't do it now since I data error have many important files. I tried disk check but the drive is inaccessible (even in cmd prompt). Any suggestion please? If cyclic redundancy check you ran it from within windows then boot to the command prompt and try CHKDSK before windows loads. When you are activeliy using a HDD, or manipulating files on it when you abruptly lose power, you may have corrupted the open file, or the file structure or partition of the HDD. To evaluate the HDD health, go to DiskMgmt and in the lower graphical section, list what it says in the Drive Status box, and in the Volume Status box just to the right. This will be your external removable HDD, listed possibly Disk1, or Disk 2 or 3 depending on how many fixed disks are on your Win-7 computer. Normally it should say Disk ?2, Basic, size_in_MB, Online. If it's a problem with the Disk organization, list those findings for us. June 17, 2015 Posted by Tim RAW Drive Recovery Data error (cyclic redundancy check)? Drive is not accessible, data error (cyclic redundancy check) is basically an error checking technique which is used for data verification. It detects accidental changes in the data. It is used by computers to specifically check the data stored in the hard drive. Data error (cyclic redundancy check) was thrown by the hard drive, the cause is likely data being incorrectly written to the hard drive. This can be caused by either the operating system being corrupt, or a power loss. Data error (cyclic redundancy check) indicates that the operating system has found a drive with bad sectors, this is usually caused by hard drive hardware problems. No program can repair bad sectors, so there is no way to fix this inaccessible drive with bad sectors. To protect data security, the only way is to recover data from this inaccessible drive which prompts "data error (cyclic redundancy check)" firstly, and then check drive errors and see whether it can fix data error (cyclic redundancy check) or not. How to recover data from this inaccessible drive which prompts "data error (cyclic redundancy check)"?
