If it's a production server, I suggest a db2stop and afterwards a db2start , this could also help Normally, -1224 is a trap which comes from memory corruption. If you run the function unfenced, try to switch to fenced. Also, take a look at your trap files. Also, this can happen if you have an invalid JVM level. is returned. Cause DB2 on AIX Version 4.3.3 or later will not allow db2 error code 302 more than a few simultaneous local connections to the database, resulting in SQL1224N. Answer The failure results from an operating db2 error code 805 system-imposed limit on the number of shared memory segments available to DB2. Error message SQL1224N states: "Could not connect to database: [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL1224N. A database agent could not be started to service http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15361714/db2-error-sqlcode-1224 a request, or was terminated as a result of a database system shutdown or a force command. " If this error occurs when you attempt to connect to a database, then it is likely to be an indication that the number of shared memory segments allowed by AIX to connect to the database has been exceeded. When this occurs, you must change the DB2 configuration to http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21079674 increase the number of shared memory segments. Currently, Recovery Expert does not support the use of defining a DB2 alias with a loopback to avoid the shared memory issue. INCREASE SHARED MEMORY SEGMENTS An Extended Shared Memory feature is used by these versions of DB2 that circumvents the problem. To enable this feature, place the following lines near the beginning of both /etc/rc.db2 and
