What is covered and/or not covered how to reset a digital scale under the American Weigh Scales 10-Yr Limited Warranty? Our warranty covers all manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship. It does not cover damage resulting from but not limited to misuse, overloading the scale, dropping the scale or otherwise shocking the scale, calibration, or normal wear and tear inflicted on the balance. The warranty does not cover accessories or other removable parts such as batteries or AC adapters. Click here for our full warranty. What kind of maintenance is required to keep my scale in optimal weighing condition? Scales are precision instruments that are sensitive to changes in the environment and exposure to foreign substances (e.g., dust, dirt, moisture, etc.). Try to keep your scale clean of any foreign substances as they will begin to seep into the electronics of the scale, causing erratic readings and eventually causing complete failure. Avoid lengthy exposure to extreme heat or cold. Do not store your scale in a car or other locations where extreme temperatures are likely to affect the device. I read a blog that recommended re-calibrating the scale, but offers no instruction on how. I am not sure of the brand, but it is a black digital scale with the spring loaded top that folds around the back. Anybody out there know how to do this? A: use a roll of nickels or something that weighs 100 grams turn it on and hold down both buttons till it starts counting down then put weight on it I think I found what the guy was referring to: http://www.jscale.com/support.html : Does your scale show "Out2" on the display? This means it needs to be recalibrated. Please follow the recalibration instructions that came with your scale, or there are copies of the manuals available at the bottom of this page. There are no manuals at the bottom of the page. iryad Registered User Joined: Jul 9, 2007 Messages: 441 Likes Received: 411 #3 iryad, Aug 16, 2008 nice find, i tried googeling but didn't get anything, what did you type in exactly?! thank you very much, i'm ganna try messing around and see if i can calibrate this thing. thanks again! Trending Now Garth Brooks Allison Williams Hayley Atwell Blake Shelton Luxury SUV 2016 Cars Lil Wayne Floyd Mayweather Mike Towell Asthma Inhalers Answers Best Answer: Most digital scales have this message (OUTZ) and it can mean that your scale has been overloaded or has simply lost its calibration. If the scale was overloaded, then it is probably done for. Sometimes you can try recalibrating the scale using the manual to fix it. If the scale was delivered with this message, then I would call the manufacturer to have it replaced because it is considered DOA. If it has been some time since you purchased the scale though, and it was damaged from overloading, you may be out of luck, as overloading wouldn't be covered by warranty.
