Driver tab 6. make sure the device in the drop-down list correctly reflects your soundcard Further DirectSound config tweaks.... http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....26#post1212926 -and/or- 1. Control Panel 2. Sounds & Audio Devices icon (or MultiMedia Icon) 3. Audio tab 4. in 'Sound playback' make sure the 'Default device:' drop-down box correctly reflects your soundcard Although it's not necessary, close down Winamp, Windows and reboot the computer after making any of the above changes. No dice? Make sure the sound drivers and/or DirectX are up to date. Still no dice? Please post a reply with system specs. I got this error attempting http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?p=3068875 to play an MP3 I exported using the Cakewalk MP3 encoder. I was using Winamp to play the MP3 'Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.' Error code: 80004005 Has anyone else experienced this? Is this due to invalid choices in the encoder dialog? It appears that the DirectSound plug-in used by Winamp wasn't pointing to my M-Audio Audiophile sound card. I selected the correct soundcard from the list and now I'm back in business. To check it out select Preferences.Plug-ins.Output, double-click on DirectSound output. The available devices will be selectable from the Device tab. #2 Jump to: Jump to - - - - - - - - - - [Cakewalk Products] - - - - SONAR - - - - Music Creator - - - - Cakewalk Instruments - - - - Cakewalk Hardware - - - - The Archives [Feedback Loop] - - - - Features & Ideas - - - - Problem Reports - - - - Cakewalk Store [The Studio] - - - - Hardware - - - - Software - - - - Computers - - - - Deals [Community] - - - - Coffee House - - - - Songs - - - - Techniques © 2016 APG vNext Commercial Version 5.1 Products SONAR Rapture Pro Z3TA+ 2 Music Creator 7 ProChannel Modules CA-2A Leveling Amplifier RE-2A Leveling Amplifier Studio Instruments Dimension Pro Top Downloads Learn CakeTV SONAR University SONAR Tips Books and Tutorials Music Production Tips Drum Production Tips Guitar Tips Synt

THANKSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apr 20, 2003 #1 Rick TechSpot Staff Posts: 4,573 +65 Desperate pleas for help do not get answered any more quickly. Save it for more important things... Sounds like you should install new, or reinstall your directsound driver windows previous sound drivers. Can you hear any sounds at all? If not, then your sound driver is probably corrupted.. That is one of more common problems I've seen. You can download a new/old sound driver from your sound card / computer manufacturer's website. in the mean time, you can take a trip to device manager and uninstall your old sound card. Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Devices Choose "Sound, video, game controllers" and uninstall you audio card. Of course other players like Sonique are available too Apr 20, 2003 #3 TS | Thomas TS Rookie Posts: 1,319 What Soundcard are you using & do you get sound in other applications/games? Apr 20, 2003 #4 Durban TS Rookie I have the same problem, I did everything you sugested but it all remains the same... any ideas? thanks you all Oct 26, 2003 #5 Devilman TS Rookie Check out this ( http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3088 ) lengthy thread about the same thing. It appears to be a conflict with directsound and current drivers sets for some sound cards. I fixed that same problem by using a new driver set for my Soundblaster Live! from here: http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?sk

Error Code 88780078 please help! Posted by joeypoon on 16 Jun 2008 6:21 I've been on the forums all night looking for an answer. I've done everything from downloading and updating drivers to trying system restores. I went back as far as i could (four days) but it wasn't enough and the drivers don't help. I have a Dell Dimension C521 Windows Vista 32-bit. When I try to play audio files the bad sound driver error 88780078 comes up and the little speaker icon with the red X on it sits on the taskbar and says no audio output device is installed when I scroll over it. I am at wits end with this thing and I guess the last straw will to get a new sound card or do a complete system restore but I really don't want to do either. Please someone help me! I miss my music!!! :( I just ran the audio tests off of my Dell Disk and I could not hear anything. I got error codes, 1B63:061B, 1B63:0F1B and every other error on the sound tests. Also I forgot to mention that when I check the audio driver in device manager it says 'This device is working properly.' and when I try to update the driver software it says it is up to date. I tried uninstalling it and rebooting, that didn't seem to fix the problem either. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!!Message Edited by joeypoon on 06-16-2008 08:40 AM Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
