Trust me i know it sounds stupid but it works wonders:P. *make sure you have it prorerly suported the last thing you need is your ps2 to take a dive of the game table.*If those 2 dont work then you could try cleaning you lens by using a cleaning disk like this oneAnother solution is to open you disk tray then turn it off and spray the heck out of the tray and the slot in the ps2. It may recognize that you have inserted a disc but not recognize it as a PlayStation 2 disc.Try using a different PlayStation 2 CD for the same or a different game. If that works, your problem is likely with the CD. If it doesn't work, your problem may be a machine-related error.Even though you http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/562386-final-fantasy-x-2/answers/286962-why-does-the-game-keep-telling-me-please-insert-playstation-or-playstation-2 do not see any problems with your CD, you might start troubleshooting by gently "cleaning" your CD with a soft cloth. Also, you could try using the CD on a different machine to make sure that it is not a CD issue. If the CD is O.K., you must have some sort of machine related issue. Causes could be "operator error" or "machine error". Be sure that you are proceeding in accordance with instructions found in your PlayStation 2 reference manual.Start up your machine without any game disc inserted. Be sure that the on screen selection before inserting a disc is in the column of icons that will allow your machine to accept a disc and read it.If you already have a disc in the machine, try ejecting the current disc and and then reinserting it after the initial disc insertion and start up attempt. When you eject the disc, make sure that the cursor is positioned in the column of icons that will allow your machine to accept a disc and read it. If you can get this far, make sure the on screen cursor points to the PlayStation disc icon on the screen after the disc has been inserted. Click on the disc icon to attempt to start the game.If that does not work, try "cleaning" the disc read interface by blowing into the disc insertion slot. Pucker up and blow and/or try using Mom's ha

Rob Nelson - Nov 10, 2003 2:20 am UTC reader comments Share this story Ever gotten those annoying Disc Read Error messages on your Playstation 2? If you have, I'll bet the first time you saw one was on the 31st day you've had it, after the Sony 30-day warranty expired. If you're real disc read lucky, your PS2 might last two or even three years; eventually this error will hunt down your PS2 and settle down there. If it only affects you some of the time ? you might be able to play some DVD movies, but your favorite one never loads, or you can only play PSone games and not silver-colored PS2 games ? then chances are it's not a serious error and only requires minor adjustments to your PS2. Since it is out of warranty, there's little risk in opening it up disc read error and trying to fix it yourself before paying to send it back to Sony's repair center. The following guide shows you how to get the PS2 open, clean it out, make your adjustments, and put it back together without any hassles. Before we begin, I'd just like to say that if your PS2 is under warranty, get this taken care of by Sony. It's not worth voiding your warranty if you can survive without it for a week or so. If your PS2 can't read anything at all, cross your fingers and read on, but you may have a more serious issue than we can fix. I am using a model SCPH-30001 Playstation 2, with a U serial number. Newer models have different heatsinks and even a different chip layout on the motherboard. Some instructions may vary or not apply for other models. My apologies to modem users, but I'm going to throw in a lot of pictures. You'll find plenty of other PS2 repair guides, but most have blurry pictures, pictures taken from across the room, or none at all. My aim is to show you every little part you have to deal with, so there's no confusion. Remember, spare parts are not your friend! We're only going to need a few tools for this. Grab your PS2, a normal-size Phillips and a flathead screwdriver, a small or jeweler's size Phillips screwdriver, a can of compressed air, and one each of (if you own any): a DVD, a PSone game, a silver PS2 game, and a blue PS2 game (namely Contra: Shatt
