Ps2 Disc Read Error Guaranteed Fix
I had that same problem. I called Sony and they had me ship it out to them, then they sent me a refurbished system. The turnaround time was like 6 weeks though. barricade, Nov 22, 2006 #2 detzziwt Member Joined: Nov 21, 2006 Messages: 4 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 I had the same problem and there is an easy way of fixing it! You can adjust the angle of the laser very easily. Here's a description on ps2 disc read error clicking sound how to do it. http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars I used this method 2 days ago and it worked perfectly! Good luck! detzziwt, Nov 22, 2006 #3 militantx Guest That's spch 30001, I need spch 50001.... Mine is different. militantx, Nov 23, 2006 #4 detzziwt Member Joined: Nov 21, 2006 Messages: 4 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 It has minor changes, the inside of the laser should be the same tough. I have a different model too but it has the same mechanism for adjusting the laser. If you won't trie it you won't know it. detzziwt, Nov 24, 2006 #5 pro0gamer Member Joined: Nov 20, 2006 Messages: 10 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 I tried the process you was talking about on a newer model with the two cog laser system and i was unable to change anything if anyone knows any details on this newer model (i think its SPH-50003 or something like that) then could you please share it with us. If you want to play legitimate games then i have worked out a way to make the playstation 2 read the game with out disc read error. This method has worked for me with no fails and i have tried it 100's of times. Heres my method: If you boot the playstation with a DVD film disc and let it load as soon as the DVD has loaded and you see

This has only been getting worse.I read the guide provided on this website but it refers to older version of the PS2.The SCPH-50001 has two white gears used to adjust the height of the laser, which, presumably is the key to fixing this problem. It appears I need to buy a tool to turn these gears. Also, I don't know in what direction to turn each on and how disc read error much.Additionally, I found some white substance on the right rod below one of the white gears. I did not see the purpose of this and considering there was none present on the opposite rod, I wiped it off.Does anyone have any advice for me or referals to a newer "fixing" guide?Thank you. rajaslade Ars Centurion Registered: Jun 8, 2004Posts: 362 Posted: Mon Nov 08, 2004 3:55 am Ugh. Go forth at your own risk. I am a semi-adventurous man--I modded my PS2--but as for FIXING things, I would only leave that to Sony and/or someone who really knows their stuff. zanmat0 Wise, Aged Ars Veteran Registered: Aug 23, 2004Posts: 147 Posted: Mon Nov 08, 2004 9:05 am hmm i seewould u suggest sending the ps2 into Sony for repair? they can charge whatever they want probably... It was very helpful when I dropped my PS2 and misaligned the drive. zanmat0 Wise, Aged Ars Veteran Registered: Aug 23, 2004Posts: 147 Posted: Mon Nov 08, 2004 4:06 pm hmm yeah thanks for that but it doesnt make mention of adjusting the height of the laser using the white gears which i believe to be causing my problem. i didnt drop my ps2 so i dont see how it could be anything else. I have had it for about two years, now, it has been on one shelf never been abused, dropped, or scratched.,Just a couple days ago my PS2 decided that it wouldn't play Socom3,(disk is in perfect condition and I have been playing it all week, before). I have tried my entire collection of PS2 games and have found, them to also have a Disk Read Error. After e-mailing Sony they told me,that since it was over 90 days (Wal-Mart doesn't offer extended, warranties), that they would not repair it for free, and the price, estimate I recieved from other sources said $135, when I only paid $150,for the system.,,What I need is a guide for the 50001 series that will show or tell me,how to make adjustments (I am fairly mechanicly inclined, having a,course in digital electronics). I have opened my PS2 and tried changing, some things that I thought might affect it but so far I have made it no,better or worse than it was. I really can't afford myself a PS2 around,Christmas time and I want to play the couple of games I just bought. I,just simply want to fix it myself but I know nothing about how the, lazer works (and I know its a class 1 lazer so I don't want to find out, myself).,,If any of you can help me that would be greatly appreciated. Talking to,Sony has yeild no fruit and I don't think it ever will...,,-Thanks in advance, Report FB Tweet G+ Message 1 of 14 (1,100 Views) Reply 0 Likes Azagar First Son Registered: 09/17/2002 Offline 5 posts 12-01-2005 03:54 PM User Info Azagar ADD AS A FRIEND Re: SCPH-50001 DRE Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report Dec 1, 2005 Sam
