Studio up vote 4 down vote favorite This project consists of a single .cpp file which calls LoadLibrary() to load a dll-file. What happens is that if I run the following through the Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Command Prompt: cl /nologo Test.cpp Everything works fine. On the other hand, if I start up a simple Visual C++ project, add the file and compile it through there, the LoadLibrary() call fails crynetwork dll error 126 with code 126: The specified module could not be found. The .exe I build from the command line is more than twice the size of the one built in Visual Studio. So I guess there's some static linking going on. The .dll-file is fine, and it's in the same directory as the .exe-file. visual-studio visual-c++ share|improve this question asked Oct 4 '12 at 20:50 Hans Sjunnesson 8,293154264 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote accepted I figured it out. By default the cl command uses the multibyte character set. While new projects set up in Visual Studio are configured for unicode. share|improve this answer answered Oct 6 '12 at 15:10 Hans Sjunnesson 8,293154264 thanks for sharing –Albertino80 Oct 6 '12 at 15:16 1 Thank you very much for the tip. I had to remove the standard project settings that defined UNICODE and _UNICODE to get it to work in a pre-baked VS 2013 express desktop app. So, if you have any /D "UNICODE" and /D "_UNICODE" compiler flags , and are getting the infamous error 126, get rid of of them! –Leo Oct 20 '14 at 17:42 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote if Loadlibr

I found the issue, thatis because of missing dlls that are needed https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/ce5960b1-98be-487c-9263-c08cf22a825b/loading-dynamic-dll-issue-with-error-code-126?forum=visualstudiogeneral to execute my application from exe. Once i added that dependent dll's, my application working fine. You could use the tool dependency walker to check the dependencies of your dll. (http://flashexperiments.insh-allah.com/ApacheError126.html might be usefull to see how you could track this down.) It could also help to use the process monitor tool to see what files windows tries to open when it tries to load the library (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645) With kind regards, Konrad Wednesday, July 24, 2013 6:07 AM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote Hi Konrad, If the problem is missing dependecy, it should not load the same DLL after reducing its size. But it loaded the DLL from same exe without any configuration change. Is that tool usefulin tracking memory related problems? Wednesday, July 24, 2013 6:36 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to
