Msxml3 Dll Error 800c000b The Operation Was Timed Out
error '80072ee2' in ASP Page up vote 6 down vote favorite We have just moved to a new dedicated server that has Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008. I am trying to access an ASP page on the same server using Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP"). On our previous 2003 server this worked correctly, however with the new 2008 server the operation just times out. Here is the msxml2 serverxmlhttp operation timed out code: strURL = "http://www.storeboard.com/profile/profile_view.asp?MemberID=" & MemberID & "&sid=" & cSession.SessionID Set oXMLHttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") oXMLHttp.open "GET", strURL, false oXMLHttp.send() IF oXMLHttp.status = 200 THEN strOut = oXMLHttp.responseText ELSE strOut = "Could not get XML data." END IF Set oXMLHttp = nothing The code is very simple but I get the following error: msxml3.dll error '80072ee2' The operation timed out /handle404.asp, line 291 Line 291 refers to oXMLHttp.Send() line. Is there an alternative code I can use? I use the script other places on the server that access files on other servers and they work correctly, but any access to files on our server doesn't work. Is there an alternative method that will allow me to keep the URL intact in the browser? The person could write the URL in their browser: http://www.example.com/hello the file doesn't exist but I have a 404 handler that then points the user to the correct path without changing the browser URL which is essential for our SEO ratings. asp-classic serverxmlhttp share|improve this question edited Feb 21 '14 at 16:23 Lankymart 7,18742252 asked Apr 5 '11 at 23:21 neojakey 70531629 add a comment| 3 An

It's not easy to make it work. if we run the same page from anywhere else, then it works. Any ideas? web-services asp-classic xmlhttprequest share|improve this question asked Sep 30 '11 at 14:19 Pepito Fernandez 36241333 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote accepted This error code is ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_ABORTED. The most common reasons are a firewall or anti-virus interfering with the connection, a proxy borking the connection data. I can also be caused by a name resolution issue -- for example, if the host name resolves to 127.0.0.1 locally and the web server is bound to the public IP address only. share|improve this answer answered Sep 30 '11 at 14:25 David Schwartz 109k899163 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote Another possibility; the server at the far end may be filtering (and dropping) requests based on browser agent strings, to prevent pr
strange errors when sending an XML HTTP request. These are three different errors that were received when sending the request: msxml3.dll error ’80072efe’ The connection with the http://www.brightfunction.co.uk/msxml3-dll-error-the-connection-with-the-server-was-terminated-abnormally/ server was terminated abnormally. msxml3.dll error ’80072f78′ The server returned an invalid http://www.visualbasicscript.com/WebDAV-upload-error-80072EFE-for-files-ampgt30-kB-m41740.aspx or unrecognized response. msxml3.dll error ’800c0008′ The download of the specified resource has failed. The errors were only being thrown in the production environment. The version of the Msxml2.ServerXMLHTTP object is usually identified as the problem for these errors, but in this case we knew that the same object dll error had been used for multiple projects without a problem: <% Set xmlHttp = Server.CreateObject(“Msxml2.ServerXMLHTTP.3.0″) xmlHttp.Open “GET”, url, false xmlHttp.Send() httpResponseText = xmlHttp.ResponseText %> In this case we were communicating with the Flickr API and the code ran correctly in our development environment and on other websites. This suggested problems with our or Flickr's firewall. It turned our that Flickr was msxml3 dll error blocking the IP address range of the company that the website was hosted by. After contacting Flickr the block on the IP address range was removed and the code executed without any errors! This will not be the solution for everyone but if your code is not running in your production environment, and it does in your development environment, then Firewall rules could be the cause of the problem. These work just fine, but only as long as the repsective file is smaller than ~30 kB. If the file is any larger, I get the following error message: Script: ...\WebUpload.vbs Line: 24 Char: 3 Error: The connection with the server was terminated abnormally Code: 80072EFE Source: msxml3.dll I have absolutely no clue why that is. WebDAV should have no problems with files over 30 kB, so maybe it's some kind of buffering issue? I'd greatly appreciate some help on this issue! Thanks a lot in advance! ___ Here's Jeff's original source code (originally downloaded from http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/33124.html), which I have adapted only by inserting my host's address (https://mediacenter.gmx.net in this case) and the login data: ' Written by Jeff Jones 3-30-2004.
