Msxml3.dll Error '80072efe' The Connection With The Server Was Terminated Abnormally
up vote 6 down vote favorite We have just moved to a new dedicated server that has Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008. I am trying to access an ASP page on the same server using Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP"). On our previous 2003 server this worked correctly, however with the new 2008 server the operation just times out. Here is the code: strURL = "http://www.storeboard.com/profile/profile_view.asp?MemberID=" & MemberID & "&sid=" msxml3 dll error 80072efd asp & cSession.SessionID Set oXMLHttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") oXMLHttp.open "GET", strURL, false oXMLHttp.send() IF oXMLHttp.status = 200 THEN strOut = oXMLHttp.responseText ELSE strOut = "Could not get XML data." END IF Set oXMLHttp = nothing The code is very simple but I get the following error: msxml3.dll error '80072ee2' The operation timed out /handle404.asp, line 291 Line 291 refers to oXMLHttp.Send() line. Is there an alternative code I can use? I use the script other places on the server that access files on other servers and they work correctly, but any access to files on our server doesn't work. Is there an alternative method that will allow me to keep the URL intact in the browser? The person could write the URL in their browser: http://www.example.com/hello the file doesn't exist but I have a 404 handler that then points the user to the correct path without changing the browser URL which is essential for our SEO ratings. asp-classic serverxmlhttp share|improve this question edited Feb 21 '14 at 16:23 Lankymart 7,18742252 asked Apr 5 '11 at 23:21 neojakey 70531629 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 9 down vote Microsoft has a published a KB artic

We're migrating our web services to a new server and my application could reach the old server just fine. This is why I think it's a problem with reaching the new server. When I extract the error number and description from the Err object I get: Err.Number = -2146697211 Err.Description = System error: -2146697211 Err.Source http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24833082/classic-asp-msxml3-dll-error-2146697211 = msxml3.dll Is there a decent way of determining what this error actually means? I'm not an expert in ASP so I don't know what many of the errors mean. If you need more information please let me know. vbscript asp-classic share|improve this question asked Jul 18 '14 at 20:14 Mike 57210 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted These are the defined errors. If you are actually connecting to a server, this also gets the server response. The URL has to be 100% correct. Unlike a browser there is no code to fix urls. The purpose of my program is to get error details. How I get a correct URL is

If I remove &request_token=#####some_default_request_token###### it works just fine. I also tried this: I added again the request_token, and I just typed a random character in it, for example, rexfuest_token, and strangely it worked. It seems there's a wrong parse in msxml3.dll. with request_token word. Ideas? vbscript msxml3 share|improve this question edited Jul 1 '13 at 15:21 Helen 18.3k44174 asked Jul 1 '13 at 9:42 Devian 2081414 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote ac
Programming / ASP / Smart Mailer ASP The operation timed out: msxml3.dll error '80072ee2' December 14, 2006 by Georgi Kralev Question: I am getting the following error when using the extension: msxml3.dll error '80072ee2' The operation timed out /ScriptLibrary/incSmartMailer.asp, line 1161 Answer: The timeout is generated by msxml object that is used to load the template file. This usually happen on MS Windows 2003 server when the used template file cannot be properly loaded. Some of the reasons for this behavior could be: template takes too much time to be loaded, the smart mailer is trying to send too many emails or the web server is behind a proxy. Solutions: Try to make asp template to load faster through cutting down your asp code or using some speed tricks. Don not use session code in global.asa If your web server is behind a proxy see the following article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/xmlsdk/html/serverxmlhttpproxy.asp?frame=true Disable the session state through adding this line at the top of the asp template file: <%@ enablesessionstate="False" %> Increase the time out. You can do it by adding the following line in /ScriptLibrary/incSmartMailer.asp before line# 1222. objHttp.setTimeouts 5000, 60000, 10000, 10000 (Warning: If the solution work make sure that you have copyed the edited file to your web server. Because when you add server behavior Macromedia Dreamweaver could replace the modified incSmartMailer.asp with the original one).
