However when I tried, this is what the Playstation http://www.easytechguides.com/ps3-media-server-problems.html told me. Media Server Error: A DNLA protocol error (2104) has occurred. Solution Note: Your local firewall on the Windows 7 machine can also cause this problem. I have a decent firewall at home, so I disabled the local firewall on the Media Center, (Start > Run > firewall.cpl). 1. On your Windows 7 Machine open http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000696 Windows Explorer (Windows Key+E) > Select Homegroup > View homegroup settings. 2. Make sure you're set to location type Home, if not change it (mine was set to public!). 3. Now "choose what you want to share…". 4. Select as appropriate > Next. 5. Choose Media Streaming options. 6. Allow All, (or if you know the MAC address of the Playstation it will be listed as "Unknown Device" and, (if you can see it on the list), you can add that in on it's own, and allow). 7. Accept the warning. 8. If you allowed all, this is what you should see. 9. Finally open the services (Start > Windows key+R > services.msc {enter}) and ensure that the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" Service is started > Set to Automatic > and set to logon as either the Network Service, or the Local System. Comment Filed Under: Gaming Tagged: ps3 A friend of mine purchased a PlayStation 3 and connected it to his wireless Linksys router. Whenever he downloaded updates to games, it would start the download then freeze at about 32 percent. At other times it would throw an error saying DNLA Protocol Error 2101. We could access the PlayStation Store without a problem though. After connecting the PS3 directly to the cable modem, the PS3 worked fine. So we then knew the problem had to be with the Linksys router configuration. After checking out the router settings, we figured out that UPnP was enabled. The UPnP feature is supposed to automatically grant permission to devices to access needed network resources. It doesn't always play well with certain devices though. So we disabled UPnP with these steps: Login to the Linksys router's admin panel. You can usually get there by opening a web browser and going to "http://192.168.1.1" (usually this is the IP address used, but it may be different depending on your configuration) in a web browser. Go to "Connectivity" in the left pane. Click the "Administration" tab. Uncheck "UPnP" to disable it. Select "OK", and you're done. If you have a router from a different brand, check the user guide for information on how to disable this feature.
