If you are using Windows Firewall, the required Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports are automatically opened when you turn on media sharing. If you are using a different software or hardware firewall, you might need to open these ports manually. The following table shows the firewall ports that must be opened if you want to share media with other devices.Port Protocol Scope554 TCPlocal subnet only1900 UDP local subnet only2177 TCP, UDPlocal subnet only2869 TCP local subnet only5004-5005 UDP local subnet only10243 TCP local subnet only10280-10284 UDPlocal

You may get a DLNA error message: DLNA Protocol Error 7531. Solution: First, make sure that all your connections are working correctly. Then navigate to the PS3's Media Server: Settings -> Network Settings -> Media Server Connection. Disable the Media Server Connection, back out of the menu, then go back to the Media Server Connection and Enable it again. This should fix the issue. - Error ‘A DLNA protocol error (2104) has occurred' When streaming from Windows Media Player Home » General » Playstation 3 - Error http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000696 ‘A DLNA protocol error (2104) has occurred' When streaming from Windows Media Player KB ID 0000696 Dtd 12/10/12 Problem My Windows 7 Media Center can't stream to my http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11284 PS3, but the Windows Media Player that's built into the same PC can, (well it should be able to!) However when I tried, this is what the Playstation dlna protocol told me. Media Server Error: A DNLA protocol error (2104) has occurred. Solution Note: Your local firewall on the Windows 7 machine can also cause this problem. I have a decent firewall at home, so I disabled the local firewall on the Media Center, (Start > Run > firewall.cpl). 1. On your Windows 7 Machine open dlna protocol error Windows Explorer (Windows Key+E) > Select Homegroup > View homegroup settings. 2. Make sure you're set to location type Home, if not change it (mine was set to public!). 3. Now "choose what you want to share…". 4. Select as appropriate > Next. 5. Choose Media Streaming options. 6. Allow All, (or if you know the MAC address of the Playstation it will be listed as "Unknown Device" and, (if you can see it on the list), you can add that in on it's own, and allow). 7. Accept the warning. 8. If you allowed all, this is what you should see. 9. Finally open the services (Start > Windows key+R > services.msc {enter}) and ensure that the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" Service is started > Set to Automatic > and set to logon as either the Network Service, or the Local System.
