- Error ‘A DLNA protocol error (2104) has occurred' When streaming from Windows Media Player Home » General » Playstation 3 - Error playstation 3 dlna protocol error ‘A DLNA protocol error (2104) has occurred' When streaming from Windows dlna server error 2101 ps3 Media Player KB ID 0000696 Dtd 12/10/12 Problem My Windows 7 Media Center can't stream to my what does dlna error mean on ps3 PS3, but the Windows Media Player that's built into the same PC can, (well it should be able to!) However when I tried, this is what the Playstation http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Support/Protocol-Error-DLNA-2104/td-p/27588555 told me. Media Server Error: A DNLA protocol error (2104) has occurred. Solution Note: Your local firewall on the Windows 7 machine can also cause this problem. I have a decent firewall at home, so I disabled the local firewall on the Media Center, (Start > Run > firewall.cpl). 1. On your Windows 7 Machine open http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000696 Windows Explorer (Windows Key+E) > Select Homegroup > View homegroup settings. 2. Make sure you're set to location type Home, if not change it (mine was set to public!). 3. Now "choose what you want to share…". 4. Select as appropriate > Next. 5. Choose Media Streaming options. 6. Allow All, (or if you know the MAC address of the Playstation it will be listed as "Unknown Device" and, (if you can see it on the list), you can add that in on it's own, and allow). 7. Accept the warning. 8. If you allowed all, this is what you should see. 9. Finally open the services (Start > Windows key+R > services.msc {enter}) and ensure that the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" Service is started > Set to Automatic > and set to logon as either the Network Service, or the Local System. The PS3 keeps telling me DLNA and network errors are occcuring, most often DLNA error 2104. I'm using Windows XP and have tried both WM11 and TVersity as media servers. The PS3 will recognise either server, but whenever I try playing a song or video, the errors start appearing and little happens. Things were better (if certainly not flawless) a while back, dlna protocol using my old laptop and an older version of TVersity. Now, though, my network setup has totally changed: I've added a PC, am using a new router - and I've updated the PS3 firmware. I've done a bit of searching, and there seem to be quite a few people with similar problems, but no-one seems to have come up with a solution. Could the problems be due to the new PS3 firmware, as some seem to think? Should I be looking at dlna protocol error my wireless LAN set-up? It seems like either the data is not being sent swiftly enough to the PS3 or the PS3 is not accepting it quickly enough... I'd appreciate any thoughts, since I don't really know where to start on this one... _________ (Oh, and I know there was an earlier thread on this, but that was a while back and didn't seem to offer any solutions.)
