Whenever he downloaded updates to games, it would start the download then freeze at a dlna protocol error 2101 has occurred tversity about 32 percent. the PS3 worked fine. So we then knew the problem had to be with the Linksys router configuration. After checking out the router settings, we figured out that UPnP was enabled. The UPnP feature is

supposed to automatically grant permission to devices to access needed network resources. It doesn't always play well with certain devices though. So we disabled UPnP with these steps: Login to the Linksys router's admin panel. You can usually get there by opening a web browser and going to "http://192.168.1.1" (usually this is the IP address used, but it may be different depending on your configuration) in a web browser. Go to a dlna protocol error has occurred ps3 media server "Connectivity" in the left pane. Click the "Administration" tab. Uncheck "UPnP" to disable it. Select "OK", and you're done. If you have a router from a different brand, check the user guide for information on how to disable this feature. Any ideas what the deal is with this? It happened before and after I upgraded to PS3 firmware 3.0. I also now have Medialink 2.0A1 but still the same problem. Thanks. dlna protocol Nic H, Sep 5, 2009 Sep 6, 2009 at 12:25 AM discover, Sep 6, 2009 #2 discover Active Member Joined: Oct 14, 2008 Messages: 2,426 Products Owned: 0 Products Wanted: 0 Trophy Points: 66 Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire Ratings: +119 i get that alot, from what i made of it, it's the ps3 to blame as there were no changes in any of the settings on the router. dlna protocol error discover, Sep 6, 2009 Sep 7, 2009 at 1:37 PM BinaryRage, Sep 7, 2009 #3 BinaryRage Standard Member Joined: Sep 7, 2009 Messages: 1 Products Owned: 0 Products Wanted: 0 Trophy Points: 1 Ratings: +0 It's the upgrade, the album art generator is causing the MediaLinkHelper to crash when generating the quick look thumbnails (check your system logs, there'll be crash diagnostic reports). I think 2101 is just a timeout due to the helper crashing. You can remove the plugin so MediaLink will at least work, if without thumbnails. Go to the following location, either on your HDD, or from your home directory depending if it's installed for all users or just you: 1. Go to Library/PreferencePanes 2. Right click MediaLink.prefPane, Show Contents 3. Go to Contents/Resources/MediaLinkHelper.app/Contents/PlugIns 4. Remove AlbumArtTranscoder.mltranscoder Hopefully the guys at NullRiver are on top of this and can get it sorted Edit: I should add, the crash only applies to 2.0A1. If you're having this on other versions, you want to check your network configuration, check Utilities - Console, it logs extensively in the alpha and should help diagnose the problem. I think you need to enable the debug/test mode in settings to get the logging with earlier versions. Last edited:
DLink DIR-685 (fw 2.0ww). I spent A LOT of time fiddling around with the settings, getting increasingly frustrated about the gap between advertising an realitiy concerning DLNA. Whatever, the main problem seems to be that the DIR-685 is painstakingly slow in refreshing the media content. Try a chosing very small folder (not root or the HDD, but a subdirectory) with a dozen pictures or songs in it as streaming sorce and press "refresh". Wait until the DIR-685 finishes refreshing, then let the PS3 search for new media servers. I found out that everything works out fine then.BUT: when I chose my whole music and pictures folders (about 60 gig, including HD videos), the DIR-685 will not finish refreshing. The firmware is so buggy that it will log you out before the refreshing finishes. Result on the PS3: DLNA protocol error 2114. Oos, sorry, I should have posted it in the DIR-685 section but the firmware - and the error for sure - is probably the same. Maybe someone can move the post...So in the end, I could avoid the 2114 error when chosing small folders, refreshing completey and not chosing a root directory. In the end I found out that its easier to copy the whole picture and music stuff onto a simple USB drive. Still quite annoying that D-link does not provide what they advertise. So if anyone knows how the refreshing process with the DIR 685 could be accelerated....cheers! tmeh: I recently received the error: "DLNA protocol error (2101)". I did found the solution for that, and perhaps this will remove any other or similar error with the DLNA protocol error. I take it that this problem 9/10 times happens on Linux. Based on that i have been searching and analyzing. When you have a folder shared in PMS, go to the terminal and head into the folder that you have shared.(in my case that would have been "cd /home/username/Music/")type for example "ls -ltr"As you can see, if i am correct, the writing / sharing / reading rights for certain f
