If you are using Windows Firewall, the required Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports are automatically opened when you turn on media sharing. If you are using a different software or hardware firewall, you might need to open these ports manually. The following table shows the firewall ports that must be opened if you want to share media with other devices.Port Protocol Scope554 TCPlocal subnet only1900 UDP local subnet only2177 TCP, UDPlocal subnet only2869 TCP local subnet only5004-5005 UDP local subnet only10243 TCP local subnet only10280-10284 UDPlocal subnet onlyIf port 554 is already in use (for example, by Media Center Extender), ports 8554-8558 will be used instead. Comment Filed Under: Gaming Tagged: ps3 A friend of mine purchased a PlayStation 3 and connected it to his wireless Linksys router. Whenever he downloaded updates to games, it would start http://www.technipages.com/ps3-dlna-protocol-error-2101-fix the download then freeze at about 32 percent. At other times it would throw an error saying DNLA Protocol Error 2101. We could access the PlayStation Store without a problem though. After connecting the PS3 directly to the cable modem, the PS3 worked fine. So we then knew the problem had to be with the Linksys router configuration. After checking out the router settings, dlna protocol we figured out that UPnP was enabled. The UPnP feature is supposed to automatically grant permission to devices to access needed network resources. It doesn't always play well with certain devices though. So we disabled UPnP with these steps: Login to the Linksys router's admin panel. You can usually get there by opening a web browser and going to "http://192.168.1.1" (usually this is the IP dlna protocol error address used, but it may be different depending on your configuration) in a web browser. Go to "Connectivity" in the left pane. Click the "Administration" tab. Uncheck "UPnP" to disable it. Select "OK", and you're done. If you have a router from a different brand, check the user guide for information on how to disable this feature.
