Dlna Protocol Error 501
a couple of days ago. When I try to stream to my PS3 I get a DLNA Protocall Error 2104. I'm not sure what other info to post so let me know what you need to know. I did a search http://www.easytechguides.com/ps3-media-server-problems.html but did not find a solution.ThanksJim DS 110jDSM 3.1-1613Internal Drive: Seagate ST3500641AS 500GB Linksys WRT320N router Firmware Version: v1.0.03 PC Windows 7 Professional 32bit Top Taxman Guru Posts: 1423 Joined: Sun Mar 23, 2008 1:45 pm Re: DLNA Protocall Error 2104 on PS3 Quote Postby Taxman » Sun May 09, 2010 6:04 pm Google info on the error seems to point in the direction of network issue related to security settings and port mappings. What make router do you have ? I would suggest checking https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?t=24378 for a firmware update for the unit and applying that if available. Also log into the router and check to see if it has a UPnP setting and enable it if so.Lastly turn off the media server, reboot the NAS and turn the media server back on again. UPnP is enabled in the router. There is no new firmware updates for my router. The first day I got my DS110j my PS3 did find the media server but I got the error. I could see the folders on the PS3 and when I selected one I would get the error. If I backed up one screen and go back into the same folder then it would let me see the list of movies on the DS110j and I actually played one but part way through it stopped. Now my PS3 can't even find the media server. - Error ‘A DLNA protocol error (2104) has occurred' When streaming from Windows Media Player Home » General » Playstation 3 - Error ‘A DLNA protocol error (2104) has occurred' When streaming from Windows Media Player KB ID 0000696 Dtd 12/10/12 Problem My Windows 7 Media Center can't stream to my PS3, but the Windows Media Player that's built into the same PC can, (well it should be able to!) However when I tried, this is what the Playstation told me. Media Server Error: A DNLA protocol error (2104) has occurred. Solution Note: Your local firewall on the Windows 7 machine can also cause this problem. I have a decent firewall at home, so I disabled the local firewall on the Media Center, (Start > Run > firewall.cpl). 1. On your Windows 7 Machine open Windows Explorer (Windows Key+E) > Select Homegroup > View homegroup settings. 2. Make sure you're set to location type Home, if not change it (mine was set to public!). 3. Now "choose what you want to share…". 4. Select as appropriate > Next. 5. Choose Media Streaming options. 6. Allow All, (or if you know the MAC address of the Playstation it will be listed as "Unknown Device" and, (if you can see it on the list), you can add that in on it's own, and allow). 7. Accept the warning. 8. If you allowed all, this is what you should see. 9. Finally open the services (Start > Windows key+R > services.msc {enter}) and ensure that the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" Service is started > Set to Automatic > and set to logon as either the Network Service, or the Local System.
