to play a DVD and I get the u73 error. I tried switching the cable from one input on the TV to another and it still didn't work. Yet when I plug my Directv cable into the HDMI input it works fine. http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=106404 At one point the picture did come on, but then it went off. Another strange thing is when I started the DVD with the TV off, I did not get the u73 error. When I turned the TV on, then I got the error. Is it the HDMI cable? I have a Sony Bravia TV which is 1080P, so I don't think (I hope) its the TV. Any ideas? Thanks gwelmo 12-09-2008, 08:25 AM #2 IdahoPhil63 Define interesting. The last couple of posts go to say; U 73 error on my Panny DMP-BD35 connected to my Panny TX-37lzd85. I found it hard to believe that this perfect match would give me an u73 error. It really did. I called Panny support and they said i had to bring in the player, that u73 error ment that there was something very wrong. Before returning the brand new player I bought a slighty more expansive HDMI cable (double coated). Plugged it in and all the problems where solved!! No more errors, full 1080p image, what a sight! Faulty cable was my problem. Cheap cables, huh go figure. __________________ Toshiba 65" HDTV Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD (still kickin) Pioneer Elite VSX- Nakamichi RX-202 Jvc XL-V311 Xbox 360(GT; WarZombieKing) Definitive Technology BP-7004 surround system Monster Cable, Emotiva and (whats left of the crappy Blue Jeans Cable, had two fail in the last two-ish years, one left) And now a Panasonic DMP-BD60 12-09-2008, 10:13 AM #3 skar High Definition is the definition of life. Here is the equipment: Panasonic DMP-BD60, Denon AVR1910,Dish VIP722K sat receiver, Samsung LED 42" not sure the exact model. All are switched through the AVR. HDMI connected and one HDMI to the display. Here is what happens: The sat plays fine, no issues. The BD will load the disc and you can see the numbers moving on the display until you switch the input on the panasonic dmp bd60 AVR, then it kinda stutters and shows the message U73 on the BD display. If you switch the AVR input back to sat, the sat plays fine, and the BD display reverts to the word PLAY, but doesn't seem to be playing. I switched the input on the AVR from dvd to hdp thinking that could be the problem but it didn't change anything. At no time does any picture from the BD show on the display, not even a menu or logo.I had to be somewhere else the next day, was waiting on a couple of volume controls to come in, so I re-scheduled after making sure they had sat, and I need to get back to do an in-depth troubleshooting. I will bypass the AVR with component to see if I get a picture, try to do a firmware update etc. The thing that is throwing me the most is the player running until I switch the input on the AVR. I could understand if the error message showed up immediately, but it you switch the input and turn off/on the player, the message goes away (until you switch the input again). Also, I didn't have a BD disc to test it, and neither did the customer(they are new to this) and only had a SD disc to run.I am just looking for any insight before I go back t

Dan - Master Tech is online now I just bought a Panasonic DMP BD60 Blu Ray player. Im getting Resolved Question: I just bought a Panasonic DMP BD60 Blu Ray player. I'm getting a U73 message - and my Westinghouse TX 42F430S says it is getting no signal. What is this U73 issue and how can I resolve it, please? Thank you! Submitted: 7 years ago. Category:TV Share this conversation Expert: Dan - Master Tech replied7 years ago. GreetingsCustomer the U73 error message is indicating a lack of proper communication "handshake" between the Westinghouse and the Panasonic. This can be attributed to several causes. First, make sure your HDMI cable is of good quality. If it is an older or less expensive one, it may not be fully HDMI compliant. Secondly, try turning off your Panasonic, powering up your Westinghouse TV, switching to the proper input, then powering up the Panasonic. If, after trying both procedures, it still fails to work, you may need to return/replace the Panasonic player. There are other ways to isolate the faulty component by substituting one or the other. Try the Panasonic on another TV or try another source on the HDMI input of the TV.If you need additional information, please let me know.Dan Dan - Master Tech and 2 other TV Specialists are ready to help you Ask your own question now Customer: replied7 years ago. Thanks so much, Dan, I did try all that - thank you. No luck. I'm (typically) told by Panasonic that it's a firmware issue - a KNOWN firmware issue specific to the Westinghouse TV which requires an update of the TV. I performed the update... to no avail... Thanks anyway. RCA cables were pretty cool, right?! I'm now awaiting the long drawn out process of case numbers to sort this out. In the meantime I've gone component in and the picture is still pretty amazing... I suspect my work-around will remain in place for the life of this machine.
