profile when off-line from company network. First atempt to login to domain creates at temporary profile and no network access. Often no IP-adresse at all (should have been delivered from DHCP-server). When they reboot and try to login again they have no problems at all. (except the timeconsuming login). We are using Windows XP SP3 and Windows 2003 R2. All users have roaming profiles. I've without any luck tried to searc dhcp-log. At every failed login-attempt the eventlog on the client have: Event ID: 11197 Source: DnsApi Message: The system failed to update and remove host (A) resource records (RRs) for network adapter with settings: Adapter Name : %1 Host Name : %2 Primary Domain Suffix : %3 DNS server list : %4 Sent update to server : %5 IP Address(es) : %6 The reason the update request failed was because of a system problem. For specific error code, see the record data displayed below. Hope anyone could tell me which way to search. /Jesper November 4th, 2010 9:57am Hi, For the Event ID: 11197, you can refer to the following support article: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Windows+Operating+System&ProdVer=5.2&EvtID=11197&EvtSrc=DnsApi Please confirm that the zone has updates enabled and the DNS server the client is pointing to can recursively resolve the name that needs to be registered. As this error can be caused by timeouts, we can wait to see whether this error resolves itself. For more information, you can also refer to: Event ID 11197 — DNS Client Deregistration http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735661(WS.10).aspx Due to the DnsApi error, users could not load their roaming profile, the temporary profile was created. For your concerns for “the time-consuming login”, please provide us more information on it. Did the issue begin to occur after logging on with the cached local profile? How about logging on the system the third time? I hope the above information will be helpful. Thanks. Nina This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
