* * Log Name: DNS Server Source: Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Server-Service Date: 4/18/2013 10:29:50 PM Event ID: 408 Task Category: None Level: Error Description: The DNS server could not open socket for address 127.0.0.1. Verify that this is a valid IP address for the server computer. If it is NOT valid use the Interfaces dialog under Server Properties in the DNS Manager to remove it from the list of IP interfaces. Then stop and restart the DNS server. (If this was the only IP interface on this machine and the DNS server may not have started as a result of this error. In that case remove the DNS\Parameters\ ListenAddress value in the services section of the registry and restart.) If this is a valid IP address for this machine, make sure that no other application (e.g. another DNS server) is running that would attempt to use the DNS port. For more information, see "DNS server log reference" in the online Help. * * * * * All drives have sufficient available space, I've uninstalled the updates that had just been installed and rebooted, checked DNS settings on the NIC, and can't get into the properties of the DNS server from the DNS MMC. Ping using IP address works fine, but no name

"error 14 not enough storage is available to complete this operation" I was installing updates and it looks like the c drive ran out of space and could not complete the installation. File sharing is working, but No Internet browsing https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24650403/DNS-will-not-Start-Windows-2003-Server-Error-14-not-enough-storage-is-available-to-complete-this-operation.html because of the DNS service is broken. The system properties screen shows Windows 2003 SP1. If I look at the add remove programs it shows Windows 2003 SP2 is installed. I tried to run the uninstall from add remove programs, for SP2 can not complete. I even tried to reinstall DNS services on Add remove windows components. No luck. There is about 3 gig on the c drive now. I'm currently downloading Server 2003 SP2 to the server now via FTP access. Maybe it will be able to install on top of itself. Could be disk full keep in mind the disk can be full long before Explorer shows the disk full because by default NTFS drives have 12% of the drive is in the MFT that shows a free space. On a 40gig drive that is 4.8 GB in the MFT that shows as free dns error 14 space in Explorer. It could also be not enough system rights to write to the proper directories or maybe a virus. -- Best regards, Kevin D4 Dad Goodknecht Sr. [MVP] Hope This Helps =================================== When responding to posts, please "Reply to Group" via your newsreader so that others may learn and benefit from your issue, to respond directly to me remove the nospam. from my email address. =================================== http://www.lonestaramerica.com/ =================================== Use Outlook Express?...
