"Cannot find server or DNS Error" and Trojan Virus 2Contributors 20Replies 22Views 10 YearsDiscussion Span 10 Years Ago Last Post by DMR 0 google dns error cannot find server 10 Years Ago Norton AV found a backdoor trojan virus windows 7 dns error cannot find server under C:\Windows\etc\services.exe but cannot quarantine nor delete the file. Whenever we try to access our yahoo cnet forums discussions cannot find server dns error message 122196 email, we get this "Cannot find server or DNS Error" message. Please help. avelarde 14 posts since Jun 2006 Community Member windows-virus Ask a Different Question 0 https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/cannot-find-server-or-dns-error-message-122196/ DMR 152 10 Years Ago Please begin by doing the following: Download the (free) HijackThis utility: Once downloaded, follow these instructions to install and run the program: Create a folder for HJT outside of any Temp/Temporary folders and move the HijackThis.exe file to that folder now. A folder such such as C:\HijackThis or C:\Spyware https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/information-security/threads/48535/cannot-find-server-or-dns-error-and-trojan-virus Tools\HijackThis will do. Run HijackThis, but do not have HJT fix anything yet; only have it scan your system! Once the scan is complete, the "Scan" button will turn into an option to "Save log...". Save the log in the folder you created for HijackThis; the saved file will be named "hijackthis.log". Open the log file with Windows Notepad, and cut-n-paste the entire contents of the Notepad file here. The log contents will tell us a lot about what "nasties" have crept into your system, and once we analyse the log we can tell you what to do from there. 0 Discussion Starter avelarde 10 Years Ago Hi all, Here's the HJT log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 10:50:43 AM, on 6/25/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\LiveUpdate\LiveUpdate.exe C:\Program Files\Plaxo\2.5.10.17\PlaxoHelper.exe C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BackWeb-8876480.exe C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Mobile2\Application Launcher\Application Launcher.exe

Gourav Mittal July 2, 2012 Facebook Twitter Pinterest Stumbleupon Whatsapp Email I have been getting the error ‘The server can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed' when I try to open some websites (legit, of course). This happens only on my laptop and the site opens fine on other PCs. I use Chrome as my browser and I am able to access all other sites except some. I have tried clearing the cache, cookies and the entire browser history and checked on other browsers too but no avail. The strange thing is that if I change my internet connection, the site works fine and all the pages open correctly but as soon as I revert back to my original BSNL connection, there is a problem. It will show you the "Default Server" and the "Address". Next is type the name of th
