Unable to browse internet with Mozilla and IE. Usually an error comes up after webpage times out. "DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found." I did the usual checks to make sure things were set to auto detect. Rebooted computer, unplugged the router and reset router. I am on my laptop and everything seems to be fine going through the router. The desktop is having issues. Malwarebyte ends in error halfway scanning. AVG finished scanning (in safe mode as well) without detecting anything. Superantispyware did not detect anything. I posted a hijackthis log to see if this may be helpful. The only symptom I can see now is browser unable to bring up webpages. Do I have a malware/virus? Any help is appreciated. Ashampoo is the better of the two you listed so that is what I'd suggest you use unless you don't like it for some reason. Also, when enabling/disabling a firewall always follow that with a reboot or in some cases your action will not be "active". Also verify your firewall permissions as stated in this http://free.avg.com/ww.faq.num-1334. The following will help with routing table issues... 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn off any router or hub that your computer may be plugged into. 3. Turn off the cable/dsl modem. 4. Wait for a couple of minutes. 5. Turn on the cable/dsl modem. 6. Wait for a couple of minutes. 7. Turn on any router or hub that your computer may be plugged into. 8. Wait for a couple of minutes. 9. Finally turn back on your computer. Someone on another forum (computer net) suggested that I set IE and Firefox to accept no proxy from the net to bypass any spyware/virus that redirects links. For IE: In the browser, go to "Tools', 'Internet Options', "Connection", "LAN Settings" and uncheck all the boxes. For Firefox: In the browser, go to "Tools", "Options", "Advanced", "Network", "Settings" and check the "Direct connection to the Internet" button (leave all other buttons unchecked). Hope this works for whoever else is having the same problem! View all 28 comments Report te
