0 Chipotle OP Daniel83 Aug 19, 2010 at 6:43 UTC Normally this is because you entered a static https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/108203-how-can-i-solve-this-problem-c-windows-system32-shdoclc-dll-dnserror-htm IP and didnt put in a preffered DNS address or didnt set it to obtain automatically. Sometimes when you enter a static IP it ticks the box to use a manually entered DNS and if there is no address present you get this error. Obviously theres loads of reasons why you could get DNS errors but i've found that this is the most common reason. Also quite often people bring in laptops and have their home network settings still in place on the adapter which causes issues like this 0 Serrano OP mt3dek Aug 20, 2010 at 10:27 UTC Also you may get this in Internet Explorer if you have had virus' and malware and if you do a browser reset, the issue should be corrected. 0 Poblano OP Docgarlie Sep 23, 2010 at 1:51 UTC Thanks Guys i think it was a virus because as soon as i changed the AVG to Avast i've not experienced that problem again Once again thanks 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year. How can I fix this? I saw a post about using spychecker winsockxpfix but wondered if it would work on win2k of if there is some other program that I could use. Also does anyone know what program creates the shdoclc.dll? I am in dire straits needing to get my pc back so I can connect and take care of business on the internet. Please help!!!
