However, if you made it to Gamespot on a machine connected to the same router, that's probably not the issue. You could try inputting some DNS servers manually in your PS3 network settings (instead of automatically acquiring them) and see how works for you. I use '4.2.2.2' and '4.2.2.3' ..easy to remember, never had any problems with them, and I ping the 4.2.2.x servers really nicely (I believe Verizon provides them.) Anyways, thanks for the info. will try manually entering the DNS numbers - you say to use '4.2.2.2' and '4.2.2.3 (may I ask why those numbers should work better?) both my PS3 and the modem/router a couple of times to no avail. Here's what finally did work for me. How to Fix PS3 DNS Error: You should change the DNS address on your PlayStation(not your modem) to some other http://www.gamespot.com/forums/playstation-nation-1000002/dns-error-80710102-help-26379921/ value. This is what someone suggested on the PlayStation community website. So I tried the addresses from Opendns and it worked just fine for me. How to Change DNS settings: You need to configure your Internet Connection(Wired or Wireless) once again. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings Select Yes, then Custom Choose your connection method - Wired or Wireless If you're Wired, select Auto-Detect for the Ethernet Operation Mode If you're Wireless, select the security type that your router http://www.callingallgeeks.org/solved-ps3-dns-error-80710102-on-playstation-network/ is using and enter your Wireless Password IP Address Settings - Automatic and then Do Not Set (DHCP host name) Now set DNS Settings to Manual and enter the numbers below Primary DNS 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220 Set the rest of the settings as follows: MTU - Automatic Proxy Server - Do Not Use UPnP - Enable Then press X to save the settings, and then X again to test the connection. The ‘Internet Connection' should now pass, and hopefully there will be no more DNS errors! If you have any other PlayStation related questions feel free to ask us via comments. For the last two days though, I have been getting kicked offline more and more frequently. I watch youtube a lot on my ps3 and yesterday and today, I keep getting disconnected with a various error number (and occasionally a note that it is specifically a DNS error) about every 4 - 7 minutes. While I've been through problems like this before, none were as persistent as this....I can't stay on the youtube app on ps3 for more than one video.I guess I'm just posting this to tell people about my experience, but if anyone has any other advice, short of recreating the scene from "Office Space", I'm eager to hear your thoughts. When I tried to connect wireless to my ps3 I received a message: DNS error 807etc any answers, also my pc doesn't always connect straight away to my modem sometimes saying ' cannot find modem', do I have to uninstall old speedtouch modem software? More about : connecting ps3 wireless internet eibgrad a b F Wireless 21 February 2010 21:18:51 Is this Netgear wireless router actually a modem too, or really just a wireless router? There are very few routers that come w/ an integrated modem these days. So normally you would continue using the same modem as before. If you don't know for sure, providing the model # of that Netgear router would help. As far as the DNS error, it’s always possible that particular DNS server is having problems. Most routers allow you specify alternate DNS servers in place of the defaults provided by your ISP. Two that come to mind are OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 ) and Verizon (4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3). Or you can probably update just the PS3 to use these alternate DNS servers if you find that easier (in that case it would only affect the PS3). Can't find your answer ? Ask !
