Error Code 80710102
I tried to connect and I got the error code 'DNS error 80710102'. Anybody know why this would happen and if so, how to fix the problem? Have an ethernet connection running from a NETGEAR DG834G. As stated, the last 9 months have been error free, so am kinda lost in why this has occured. Thanks for any help guys.PSN - kramin Velocitas8Member Since: January 8, 2006Posts: 10748Velocitas8FollowForum Posts: 10748Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#2 Posted by Velocitas8 (10748 posts) - 8 years, 5 months agoI don't even own a PS3 but..It sounds like it may be an intermittent DNS issue on your ISP's end (by default, you will be using your ISP's domain name servers.) However, if you made it to Gamespot on a machine connected to the same router, that's probably not the issue. You could try inputting some DNS servers manually in your PS3 network settings (instead of automatically acquiring them) and see how works for you. I use '4.2.2.2' and '4.2.2.3' ..easy to remember, never had any problems with them, and I ping the 4.2.2.x servers really nicely (I believe Verizon provides them.) 2014 If you are having trouble logging into PSN on your PS3 due to the DNS error then use this guide to fix it and solve your problem permanently. Also, if you get disconnected from PSN quite often and get the DNS Error 80710102 you should read this tutorial. I was trying to connect to EA while playing the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit on my new PS3 yesterday. It worked fine the first time but after that I kept getting the DNS Error repeatedly. I tried rebooting both http://www.gamespot.com/forums/playstation-nation-1000002/dns-error-80710102-help-26379921/ my PS3 and the modem/router a couple of times to no avail. Here's what finally did work for me. How to Fix PS3 DNS Error: You should change the DNS address on your PlayStation(not your modem) to some other value. This is what someone suggested on the PlayStation community website. So I tried the addresses from Opendns and it worked just fine http://www.callingallgeeks.org/solved-ps3-dns-error-80710102-on-playstation-network/ for me. How to Change DNS settings: You need to configure your Internet Connection(Wired or Wireless) once again. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings Select Yes, then Custom Choose your connection method - Wired or Wireless If you're Wired, select Auto-Detect for the Ethernet Operation Mode If you're Wireless, select the security type that your router is using and enter your Wireless Password IP Address Settings - Automatic and then Do Not Set (DHCP host name) Now set DNS Settings to Manual and enter the numbers below Primary DNS 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220 Set the rest of the settings as follows: MTU - Automatic Proxy Server - Do Not Use UPnP - Enable Then press X to save the settings, and then X again to test the connection. The ‘Internet Connection' should now pass, and hopefully there will be no more DNS errors! If you have any other PlayStation related questions feel free to ask us via comments. For the last two days though, I have been getting kicked offline more and more frequently. I watch youtube a lot on my ps3 and yesterday and today, I keep getting disconnected with a various error number (and occasionally a note that it is specifically a DNS error) about every 4 - 7 minutes. While I've been through problems like this before, none were as persistent as this....I can't stay on the youtube app on ps3 for more than one video.I guess I'm just posting this to tell people about my experience, but if anyone has any other advice, short of recreating the scene from "Office Space", I'm eager to hear your thoughts. I remember I had the same problem when setting up xbox live.. Ive tried doing ipconfig/all in dos and entering the DNS numbers I get there, but it doesnt work.. Someone please help because Im desperate to get online and this is realy bugging me. Thanks. SneakerHolic03-25-2007, 16:29its probably your firewall! shut down your firewall and try and see if it works that way... LittleB6903-25-2007, 16:30My PSU worked just fine this morning.. but there has been some problems later today.. Maybe the PAL Shop is getting a new look..? I can see from the screenshots.. that it has a different look than the the US store..? Mordraxx03-25-2007, 16:30UMMM let me think? CALL YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER DUH!! There's no need for sarcastic responses like that. ~ Graham shadowstalker03-25-2007, 16:31Go into your settings and it will walk you through getting an internet connection. I think its under the heading "user settings" I think. Good luck. General Dargo03-25-2007, 16:33Could be a problem with your ISP - maybe they are not online gaming friendly? Worth checking because some ISP's are not set up to handle XBL or PSN. I get this DNS error from time to time but I just press circle to go back and try again. It usually works second time. R3venge03-25-2007, 16:45i have found the DNS settings for my ISP now and i still get the same thing :( I have had XBL on this exact same setup before so it is definatly not to do with ISP. I also turned my firewall off and still no joy. Thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming :P Scotracer03-25-2007, 16:58I get that issue sometimes...It s
