2014 If you are having trouble logging into PSN on your PS3 due to the DNS error then use this guide to fix it and solve your problem permanently. Also, if you get disconnected from PSN quite often and get the DNS Error 80710102 you should read this tutorial. I was trying to connect to EA while playing the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit on my new PS3 yesterday. It worked fine the first time but after that I kept getting the DNS Error repeatedly. I tried rebooting both my PS3 and the modem/router a couple of times to no avail. Here's what finally did work for me. How to Fix PS3 DNS Error: You should change the DNS address on your PlayStation(not your modem) to http://forum1.netgear.com/t5/General-WiFi-Routers-archive/DNS-Error-when-Attempting-To-Connect-PS3/td-p/340001 some other value. This is what someone suggested on the PlayStation community website. So I tried the addresses from Opendns and it worked just fine for me. How to Change DNS settings: You need to configure your Internet Connection(Wired or Wireless) once again. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings Select Yes, then Custom Choose your connection method - Wired or Wireless If you're Wired, select Auto-Detect for the Ethernet Operation Mode If you're Wireless, select the security type http://www.callingallgeeks.org/solved-ps3-dns-error-80710102-on-playstation-network/ that your router is using and enter your Wireless Password IP Address Settings - Automatic and then Do Not Set (DHCP host name) Now set DNS Settings to Manual and enter the numbers below Primary DNS 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220 Set the rest of the settings as follows: MTU - Automatic Proxy Server - Do Not Use UPnP - Enable Then press X to save the settings, and then X again to test the connection. The ‘Internet Connection' should now pass, and hopefully there will be no more DNS errors! If you have any other PlayStation related questions feel free to ask us via comments. If you r constantly getting connection interruptions during game-play then here is what u need to do. If u r using a router (no matter the brand), the dns error problem probably has to do with the router. In order to find out, disconnect your PS from the router and plug it directly into you modem. If your modem is not near your playstation then move it close to the ps3. The modem plugs directly into your cable line so there is a good chance that the television you play your PS3 on has a cable dns error 80710102 connection. One you have connected your PS to your modem press the reset button on the modem. Turn your PS on and go directly to your network settings. Click on Internet Connection Test (do not bother trying to set up a connection manually, if you do this chances are you will mess something up). If you are getting a connection then you are ready to go. There is a good chance you may never get a connection interruption again. For the time being you will be able to enjoy playing call of duty like you once did. Now u might ask what am I supposed to do with my router? I need it for my laptop, xbox, etc? Just buy a new one. Chances are the one that you have is garbage. It might have worked great at once, but hey, these things happen. I suggest doing your research and find a router that works well with gaming. I hope this works. In summary, it is not your playstation or your internet service provider that is giving you problems... It is your router... connect your PS to your router to test this theory... up my PS3 onto the internet. I am using an ethernet cable to do so. My problem is that every time I try and test the connection I get: Obtain IP adress: succeded Internet connection: Failed An error occured while resolving the name with the server (80710102) This is a DNS issue. :( Any ideas how to fix this? I remember I had the same problem when setting up xbox live.. Ive tried doing ipconfig/all in dos and entering the DNS numbers I get there, but it doesnt work.. Someone please help because Im desperate to get online and this is realy bugging me. Thanks. SneakerHolic03-25-2007, 16:29its probably your firewall! shut down your firewall and try and see if it works that way... LittleB6903-25-2007, 16:30My PSU worked just fine this morning.. but there has been some problems later today.. Maybe the PAL Shop is getting a new look..? I can see from the screenshots.. that it has a different look than the the US store..? Mordraxx03-25-2007, 16:30UMMM let me think? CALL YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER DUH!! There's no need for sarcastic responses like that. ~ Graham shadowstalker03-25-2007, 16:31Go into your settings and it will walk you through getting an internet connection. I think its under the heading "user settings" I think. Good luck. General Dargo03-25-2007, 16:33Could be a problem with your ISP - maybe they are not online gaming friendly? Worth checking because some ISP's are not set up to handle XBL or PSN. I get this DNS error from time to time but I just press circle to go back and try again. It usually works second time. R3venge03-25-2007, 16:45i have found the DNS settings for my ISP now and i still get the same thing :( I have had XBL on this exact same setup before so it is definatly not to do with ISP. I also turned my firewall off and still no joy. Thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming :P Scotracer03-25-2007, 16:58I get that issue sometimes...It seems to be my rather crappy Wireless router. I have to reset the damn thing every 10 hours or so...can become tiresome. I,Ghost03-25-2007, 18:21here is how to fix this: Instead of letting it use the DNS that your provider uses, try this one: 129.250.35.250 primary 129.250.35.251 secondary A friend of mine had the s
