Notice that your PS3 can still browse the net, but not log in? Happen to be a Roadrunner customer?Happen to have any other ISP with a crummy DNS server?Well then read on...The main issue turns out to be a Roadrunner (or any other ISP's)DNS problem. The fix is simple. When configuring your http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-Support/Solution-for-your-DNS-error-80710102-problems-Works-for-all-ISP/td-p/13605550 PS3 network (regardless of wired or wireless), use the manual option. If you use DHCP, leave address resolution at automatic BUT CHANGE THE DNS SERVER ENTRY TO MANUAL.I replaced the Roadrunner (or any other ISP's)DNS entries with addresses from the Open DNS project which is a free, secure DNS server that anyone can use. It's safe, easy, and works. The DNS addresses are:208.67.222.222 or/and 208.67.220.220Once replaced, you should have no problem logging in.BTW, you can also use these DNS servers for your entire network if you like by configuring your router. That however is up to you, and won't be discussed in this particular thread by me since I'm too lazy to make a writeup for every single router out there. However, I do guarantee that this fix will work (or at least get you online with your PS3) for the time being. If it doesn't work, then please re-read this thread and try again before wasting five minutes of your time telling me that it doesn't work. Also, for those that think that this is
2014 If you are having trouble logging into PSN on your PS3 due to the DNS error then use this guide to fix it and solve your problem permanently. I was trying to connect to EA while playing the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit on my new PS3 yesterday. It worked fine the first time but after that I kept getting the DNS Error repeatedly. I tried rebooting both http://www.nextgenupdate.com/forums/ps3-mods-cheats/798521-wired-connection-dns-error-fix-80710092-others.html my PS3 and the modem/router a couple of times to no avail. Here's what finally did work for me. How to Fix PS3 DNS Error: You should change the DNS address on your PlayStation(not your modem) to some other value. This is dns error what someone suggested on the PlayStation community website. So I tried the addresses from Opendns and it worked just fine for me. How to Change DNS settings: You need to configure your Internet Connection(Wired or Wireless) once again. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings Select Yes, then Custom Choose your connection method - Wired or Wireless If you're Wired, select Auto-Detect for the Ethernet Operation Mode If you're Wireless, select the security type that your router is using and enter dns error ps3 your Wireless Password IP Address Settings - Automatic and then Do Not Set (DHCP host name) Now set DNS Settings to Manual and enter the numbers below Primary DNS 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220 Set the rest of the settings as follows: MTU - Automatic Proxy Server - Do Not Use UPnP - Enable Then press X to save the settings, and then X again to test the connection. NextGenUpdate Sponsored Links I've seen many topics regarding this issue, and instead of replying each topic with same content I decided to post a quick fix for this. This error occurs when you are trying to obtain internet connection, after sharing or bridging connection with your PlayStation 3. There are two ways you can fix this. First of all, before we start any of them.. Please make sure the settings on Debug & Network Settings are identical to mine. You do not need to fake PS Plus obviously, i enabled that just for personal use. Important notes before following the tutorial: - Compare your settings with me (internet connection & debug settings) - Make sure that you set your cid and unbanned your ps3 in case that's a routine you may need to do. Please compare your settings with me: Method 1: Open up your internet & connection sharing center, then go to "Modify settings for your network card" or so. Now reset what ever you have done earlier, such as Sharing. Uncheck it, then click on both of them like this: (Hold down CTRL, then click on both of them) Now right click and click "Make bridge between connections" Once checked, it should disconnect you from the internet for around a minute or so while configuring. While it's doing that, all you have to do is wait. Once it's done, it should end up looking like this: Now try to sign into PlayStation Network. Hopefully, it'll work! If not, try the method 2. Method 2: This method is quiet simple, reset whatever you did earlier then follow the next step. Right click your WiFi internet connection like this, then click properties: Inside here, go to the "Sharing" tab then make sure both of the boxes are ch
