In the Main class of my Project, I start with the following lines: package AppelSample; import java.io.*; import goldengine.java.*; Yet I get an error that 'Package goldengine.java does not exist." I am now unable to import any org.* libs and it just says package org does not exist. Also, I imported jdic.jar into the project and even though the code completion suggestions show up as org.jdesktop.*, it shows the same error. How do I fix this? java netbeans jdic share|improve this question asked Jan http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8760333/netbeans-error-package-org-does-not-exist 6 '12 at 15:38 Anirudh Ramanathan 32.2k1177120 2 Did you clean your project after importing jar? Make sure jar is listed in LIB folder of project settings. –Nambari Jan 6 '12 at 15:41 org.* package? Do you have any project dependencies? –Nambari Jan 6 '12 at 15:58 None at all. I am actually trying to import jdic, but anything with a package-name "org." fails. –Anirudh Ramanathan Jan 6 '12 at 16:02 can I get one full package name it is failing on? –Nambari Jan 6 '12 at 16:04 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 9 down vote accepted Clearing the cache fixed it. In windows 7 the cache is located in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\NetBeans\... On Linux, the cache is at: /home/username/.cache/netbeans/... On clearing the cache, and restarting netbeans, it started to recognize org.* imports again. share|improve this answer edited Mar 25 '13 at 6:15 answered Mar 25 '13 at 5:56 Anirudh Ramanathan 32.2k1177120 4 Windows folks, if you can't find AppData, search for %AppData%. 2014 netbeans "package does not exist" error -- maven considered harmful upgraded to netbeans 8 and found a bunch of http://blog.nqzero.com/2014/06/netbeans-package-does-not-exist-error.html cryptic errors in my projects: package XXXXX does not exist in this case XXXXX was a package provided by another netbeans project. it does indeed exist, the jar http://www.4answered.com/questions/view/156caaa/Class-not-found-in-project-error-in-Netbeans is being built properly and compiling the "broken" project succeeds and the application runs. so this is purely a problem with netbeans parser / indexer. i tried removing does not the dependency and re-adding it, cleaning and rebuilding, and exiting netbeans, removing the cache and restarting. nothing helped looking thru messages.log, i see WARNING [org.netbeans.modules.java.source.indexing.JavaIndex]: Ignoring root with no ClassPath: /home/YYYYY/working/nq0/XXXXX/XXXXX.git/src didn't find much mention of that warning on the interwebs. looking at the "project properties" page for the project i realized i'd seen this problem does not exist before and started fiddling the problem is that buried in the XXXXX directory, there's a pom.xml. netbeans detects this and somehow modifies how the project is managed. it's a "project with existing sources", not a maven project. but somehow netbeans fails to honor that when it finds a pom.xml my solution was to deactivate the maven plugin (why that gets installed in the first place is beyond me). which eliminates the issue (i reactivated it temporarily to verify that that was actually the problem). this happened when i upgraded to netbeans 7, and i'm sure this will happen again when i upgrade to 8 maven is terrible, and the plugin makes it worse. it's the wrong metaphor for managing dependencies Posted by seth/nqzero at 5:05 PM 1 comment: Mat Jaggard said...
