Last modified by tmo_erica on Feb 25, 2015 11:52 AM. Version 7 The T-Mobile myTouch 4G may display the 'Generic Network Failure' message when sending picture messages. This error message can display because of one of the following reasons: outdated software, TelKila APN or when using an incorrect picture message setting.To fix this issue:Make sure your device is on current software version.Make sure the Access Point Name (APN) is set correctly. You must complete these steps and remove the TelKila APN. If you perform a master reset, the TelKila APN will return and you must delete it again.Check the following:Access the web successfully.Check that the contact you are sending to, does not have a dash or period in the number.The subject line of the message has text in it.The phone has more than 25 MB of available free memory.Change the picture resolution to a lower setting.From the Home screen, touch the All programs button.Touch Messaging.Press the Menu key.Touch Settings.Under the MMS Settings category, touch Maximum message size.Touch an option that is lower than your current setting: 100K, 200K, or 300K.Retest the picture message. What is the procedure to update the firmware on this phone? I've tried Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for update. It returns always with the error, "Information. Network error! Download failed." This happens whether I use a https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/38156?tstart=0 wifi a 3G connection. Any ideas what I can do to get updated? I just checked with T-Mobile support about getting my phone updated to V768V1.0.0B19. Unfortunately, there is no way to manually do the update. It is being done over the air in batches by the manufacturer. There is no way for T-Mobile to push the update to the phone. It appears to be based on the IMEI number so it happens when your number comes up. It apparently goes quicker if you have a wifi connection. So anyone in the same boat just has to wait for it to happen. I was also informed they had notice from the manufacturer that they would not be replacing any phones that did not update. Bummer.
