WSUS (Update Files failed to download) ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Ben Herila [MSFT]June 17, 201419 0 0 0 Marta Barillas also wrote a significant portion of this blog posting. Some customers have indicated that some update filesare not being unable to download updates from wsus server downloaded by WSUS after approval, which results in those updates being unavailable to clients. For

an update to be offered to clients, the following needs to happen: Update must be approved to a target group in WSUS. Update wsus 3.0 error download failed files must be available; so if WSUS is configured to store content locally, the update files must be successfully downloaded by WSUS. Check if WSUS is configured to store content locally The setting is controlled by a checkbox wsus client error download failed in the WSUS console. When this is selected, if the update files fail to download to WSUS, the update will not be offered to Clients even though it has been approved. Troubleshooting when WSUS is configured to store content locally First, check if WSUS is syncing from another (upstream) WSUS server. (We’ll refer to the upstream WSUS server as USS and the downstream WSUS server as DSS henceforth). If WSUS is syncing from another WSUS server, verify

that the USS has the update files available by looking in the content directory on the USS. If the update files do exist on the USS, make sure that the DSS has access to: the WsusContent folder on the USS the root folder of the DSS WsusContent folder If files are missing because they were never downloaded; ensure that files are downloaded by the Upstream WSUS (USS) and retry the download of the files on the Downstream WSUS (DSS). If files are missing because the update has been declined and Cleanup Wizard has deleted the files from USS; proceed to decline the update from the DSS as well. Note that in a WSUS hierarchy the Cleanup Wizard is recommended to be run from the bottom to the top in order to avoid DSS requesting updates that are no longer available on the USS. Instructions for using the Server Cleanup Wizard are available on TechNet. If files are missing because somehow they got deleted (not through WSUS Clean Up wizard); run Reset on USS and after files are available, retry the download of the files from the DSS. Please note that resetting a WSUS server can be a time consuming operation, as the reset happens for all the updates. In order to run Reset, run the following command as an administrator: %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\WsusUtil.exe reset For help informatio

(80244019) Posted by PhilEddies | Sep 20, 2013 | WSUS | 0 | Problem - WSUS Clients failing to download updates (80244019) Clients were unable to download updates from our internal WSUS server, the download https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/wsus/2014/06/17/update-not-available-to-clients-after-approved-by-wsus-update-files-failed-to-download/ failed with error 80244019 however the same clients could download the updates fine directly from Microsoft. Cause A couple of weeks ago a technician had declined a large amount of active needed updates and run the server cleanup tool, when this was discovered the WSUS SQL Database was restored giving the appearance that everything was back to normal however the server cleanup wizard had removed the files. So the database said the updates http://www.geekshangout.com/wsus-clients-failing-to-download-updates-80244019/ were approved and when client tryed to download the update the WSUS server was unable to deliver the file as it no longer existed resulting in error 80244019. Resolution Locally on the WSUS server open a command prompt Navigate to where WSUS is installed on a 32-bit server this is generally under C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools Run wsusutil reset The WSUS will now go down and when it comes up it will start re-downloading the update files, this maybe be a fairly large download. Links I found this solution in a PDF posted by Solar Winds, the below is a link to the PDF which has some good WSUS info the PDF is also attached. http://solarwinds-marketing.s3.amazonaws.com/solarwinds/PDFs/wsus_diagnostics_issues_solved__final_final.pdf Share: Rate: PreviousCitrix XenApp Health Monitor NextFinding SUSE and openSUSE version number and service pack level via the shell About The Author PhilEddies I am an IT Operations Manager, managing all aspects of the IT infrastructure and service for a mid sized UK based company. R2 Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now It appears for about two weeks our WSUS server has not downloaded any new updates from Microsoft. It looks like it knows these updates exist, as it tells me there are 19 https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/286089-wsus-syncs-but-doesn-t-download-updates updates waiting to be downloaded, however the Download status is stuck at 0.0 MB out of 625.09 MB. Clients are able to see these updates exist as well, but fail since the files are not sitting on the WSUS server. It is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and there are know indicators in event viewer. Is there something I can check to see if it can reach Windows update servers? I did try to ping update.microsoft.com, and it did not reply. I'm assuming they have pings blocked however. 0 Thai Pepper OP Ccraddock Dec 26, 2012 at 9:01 UTC Brand Representative for KPM Technology Are you limiting Backround Intelligence Transfer Service through GP? 0 Mace OP Denis Kelley Dec 26, 2012 at 9:10 UTC Joe1742 wrote: No proxy.
