WinXP with LSASS.EXE system error! Discussion in 'Operating Systems' started by QTPie, Mar 14, 2002. QTPie Golden Member Joined: Dec 30, 2001 Messages: 1,812 Likes Received: 0 I have winxp pro clean installed. It boots from an Adaptec U2W SCSI with C drive (NTSF), a CD-ROM and a Jaz. I also have CDRW and 2 IDE hard disks for storage. Everything was running fine. My friend gave me his Win2K Pro CD and asked me to make a backup copy for him. Then I found out that I had problems (the size of the original win2K CD is being recognized as 1000MB) So I uninstalled NTI CD Maker software and installed new ASPI driver from Adaptec, reinstall NTI CD Maker. When I rebooted the PC, I forgot to remove WIN2K CD. As the system was rebooting, somehow it asked me to choose one of these OS's: Win2K, WinXP, and Windows. It never happened before since I only have one NTSF partition and only WinXp Pro installed. I was doing something else at that time, so the win2k was booting by default and it gave me error. A. I rebooted again, this time winxp was booting but before going to the login screen, a "LSASS.EXE: system error" window poped up with the message: "the endpoint format is invalid" and it rebooted by itself. B. I tried to fix it: Tried to boot it with "Last Known Good ....." but it didn't work. Tried to boot it in Safe Mode, didn't work. Tried to boot it in Safe Mode with command prompt only, didn't work. In three cases above, it happened the same as in A. C. Then I Tried to boot from CD with repair option, but I had no idea what the hell is going on, or what I should do. Copied the file LSASS.EXE from my friend's PC but it didn't work. This time, I could see all folders and files in
