0 Trophy Points: 0 I am building a computer for internet use out of older computer parts I have. Whenever I start http://www.hardwareforums.com/threads/incorrect-drive-a-type.4384/ the system I always get this same error message "Error 02b2: Incorrect Drive http://en.allexperts.com/q/CD-ROMS-DVD-2114/Error-02B2-incorrect-drive.htm A Type." I have checked the connections of the cable to the mobo, the connection to the drive, have switched out probably five different drives and I can't lose the error message. I have Windows 98 installed currently, I will probably put 2000 on by the time I have finished error 02 building it. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of this error? tdove, Apr 14, 2005 #1 Anti-Trend Nonconformist Geek Staff Member Likes Received: 118 Trophy Points: 63 Check your BIOS settings. There is a section which allows you to specify which type of floppy is connected to the system. Choose the appropriate settings, save & quit. Your floppy is likely error 02 b2 a 1.4mb 3.5" floppy, since it's the most common on the planet. Or, if you don't have one, specify that instead. Barry Question - Hi Roy. You have helped me in the past to which i am very grateful. My cousin has just given me his laptop that he use to use for his office work its a Compaq Presario 1200-XL 110 he said he has formated the hard drive so i would have to install a operating system on it, but when it powers up the big red COMPAQ sign comes up then a screen with info and at the bottom it says Error 02B2 incorrect drive A type - run setup. I have realised that its to do with the floppy drive but i dont know how to correct error i hope you can help me once again. Thanks again. Barry Answer - Hi Barry, You need to run the CMOS setup program which should be resident in ROM. The program is run by pressing a key or combination of keys while the system is booting. Normally the key is specified on screen, ie. "Press Delete to enter setup", but some systems do not display it. I have a funny idea that it is one of the function keys, either F1, F2 or F10, but it may not be. Other common keys are Del,(delete), Ctrl + C, Ctrl + S, Ctrl + Esc or Esc. It seems likely that the floppy type is incorrectly set, and once in the CMOS setup it will be easy enough to reset it, the big problem will be finding the key to get into setup. Best of
