Opened 7 years ago Last modified 7 years ago ERROR: 03-FFFF-0000 This model not supported Click ok to shut off computer Reported by: sharijune Owned by: Priority: major Component: other Version: VirtualBox 3.0.8 Keywords: Cc: Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows Description I am trying to create my first vm. I got past the "no bootable medium found" message by http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-to-fix-03-FFFF-0000-on-recovery-CD/td-p/103159 mounting the e drive; inserted the Toshiba Recovery & Applications/Drivers disc, only to encounter "ERROR: 03-FFFF-0000 This model not supported Click ok to shut off computer". Can you help me? (I did look for a similar ticket, but could not locate an answer.) https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/5189 Change History comment:1 Changed 7 years ago by sandervl73 Status changed from new to closed Resolution set to invalid Your Toshiba installation disc expects Toshiba hardware and not the virtual hardware environment that VirtualBox provides. You might be able to change DMI keys (see chapter 9 in the manual) and get it working, but the whole point of OEM disks is that they install on specific hardware only. comment:2 Changed 7 years ago by sandervl73 That's of course assuming you install the OEM disk in a VM on the same Toshiba hardware. Otherwise you'd violate the terms on the license. Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets. I also have the original Restore DVD for Vista SP1 32-bit labeled as for A300 series laptops. Upon booting from the CD and selecting the toshiba reovery wizard, it throws the error "This model is not supported" with the error code 03-FFFF-0000. I called Toshiba tech support and they said the disc is probably just defective and I'd need error 03 to order a new one for $30 plus shipping. The disc is fine, and from what I read, the error code has nothing to do with a defective disc. However, the owner of the laptop indicated that the motherboard had been replaced at some point. Some forum posts I stumbled across say it needs to be returned to an authorized toshiba technician. But, that has me wondering--how was error 03 ffff the O/S installed in the first place after the motherboard replacement? Has anyone encountered something like this before? Can't say that I understand it, but apparently the new mobo has a different "DMI" than the recovery disc you have... I saw reference to a Toshiba bootable DMI disk... EzyStvy, Jul 12, 2012 #2 jdeb Joined: Nov 12, 2008 Messages: 5,924 Location: Detroit, MI I have ran into that one time. Fortunately, the customer did not care what OS was on it so I installed openSuse on it which does not address your problem. I found this thread that may or may not help you.
