0x800ccc0d. What does it mean, and what do I do about it? Outlook and Outlook Express both report that error number when they can't find or connect to your mail server. Understanding what's happening https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/813514 is fairly easy. Fixing requires some additional information. I'll focus here on Outlook Express, but similar steps are appropriate for Outlook as well. Typically you'll see an error message much like this: Unfortunately, many people seem to fixate on the error number at the end - 0x800ccc0d. While that can be useful, and it's easy to search on, they're missing all the additional information that Outlook is providing in the https://askleo.com/outlook_error_0x800ccc0d_how_do_i_fix_it/ error. Specifically, this: The host ‘wrongmailserver.com' could not be found. That's a big clue as to what's going on. Your email account is configured to retrieve email from the server ‘wrongmailserver.com' (a fictitious server I made up for this example), and Outlook Express cannot connect to that mail server. Step one? Make sure you can connect to anything else on the internet - any web page will do. Error 0x800ccc0d can occur because you're not connected to the internet at all, and visiting any random web page simply verifies that your internet connection is working. If your internet connection is not working, that has nothing to do with Outlook, Outlook Express or error 0x800ccc0d. Your mail failure is just one symptom of not being connected to the internet. If you are connected, step 2 is to validate your Outlook Express account configuration. Specifically, if you click on the Tools menu in Outlook Express, then click on the Accounts menu item, and then in the resulting dialog box click on the Mail tab, you should see something like this: “ If the Incoming Mail (POP3): setting is wrong, then error 0x800ccc0d can result. Solved MS Outlook 2007 SMTP Error 0x800CCC0D and data file not closed properly Posted on 2009-11-16 Email Protocols Outlook MS Office 2 Verified Solutions 10 Comments 2,245 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-30 I have MS Outlook 2007 on Windows XP and am getting two errors with MS Outlook. Periodically, when error 0x800ccc0f trying to send an email, we get an error message: "Task (email address) reported error (0x800CCC0D) can not find email server. Verify the server information in your account properties." After a couple of seconds, the email sends. This error does not occur 100% of the time, but does occur multiple times during the day. Everytime I open MS Outlook, I get a message that the data file didn't close properly and needs to be verified. That process runs for about 30 send receive error minutes. I've read in a couple of places that the data file not closing properly may cause SMTP errors. I can't confirm the two are connected, but they sure seem to be. What I've done so far: 1. Verified the account settings in my account properties. 2. Verified Port 25 is not blocked. My ISP is my SMTP server. They are not blocking port 25. 3. Disabled all plugins. 4. Started MSO in Safe Mode. 5. Verified software firewall (TrendMicro) is not blocking (I disabled the FW, and still duplicated the issue). 6. Verified the router is able to see the SMTP server. 7. Checked for errors in Event Viewer. There were none. 8. Created a new profile. 9. Ran the process from within MS outlook to check for problems. Problems were found and corrected. Subsequent attempts at the program found no errors. 10. Performed a Repair Installation. 11. Uninstalled/Reinstalled MS Outlook 12. Uninstalled/Reinstall TrendMicro (though, even with the plug-ins disabled, I still get the error). 13. Check for viruses/malware. (none found) None of the above fixed the errors. I have no other network-related problems. I can always ping the SMTP server. I can always telnet to the SMTP server on port 25. I've confirmed with the ISP that the servers are not having any problems. This is the only computer on the network experiencing this problem. MS Outlook is fully up to date with MS patches. It doesn't seem t
