However, I've googled this issue and none of the solutions presented seem to fit my situation. All that I am trying to do is copy a column of data from one workbook, and paste only the values, while transposing, to another workbook. When I run the Macro, I get the error "Run-time error '1004': PasteSpecial method http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24963175/vba-pastespecial-method-of-range-class-failed-when-copying-from-one-workbook-to of Range class failed". Here is my code: Sub GetEverything() Dim fPATH As String, fNAME As String Dim CurrentBook As Workbook Dim DestBook As Workbook Dim number As Double fPATH = "\\NetworkShare\Path\to\file\" Set DestBook = ThisWorkbook For i = 1 To 31 fNAME = "TimeStep " & i & ".xlsx" Set CurrentBook = Workbooks.Open(fPATH & fNAME) CurrentBook.Sheets("FFT Normal Force").Range("E2:E257").Copy number = i + 2 DestBook.Sheets("Sheet2").Range("B" & CStr(number)).PasteSpecial Paste:=x1PasteValues, Operation:=x1None, SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=True CurrentBook.Close False Next i End Sub Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm interested in learning, too, so I'd love to know not only what is wrong, but why. The error occurs on the line DestBook.Sheets("Sheet2").Range("B" & CStr(number)).PasteSpecial Paste:=x1PasteValues, Operation:=x1None, SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=True excel vba excel-vba share|improve this question edited Jul 25 '14 at 19:48 asked Jul 25 '14 at 19:28 Morgan G 113110 1 LOL - Simple mistake that took me a while to catch onto... In your code, you have x1PasteValues and x1None ... The value after x should be an "L" not a "1" ... xlPasteValues, xlNone –John Bustos Jul 25 '14 at 19:39 WOW. Can't believe I missed that one. It's still giving me the same error though, even after I fixed that mistake. –Morgan G Jul 25 '14 at 19:44 On the same line?

I am getting a "Run-time error '1004': PasteSpecial method of Range class failed" when I try to run a macro. It breaks at the Selection.PasteSpecial time error 1004 line of code in macro code below. Oddly if I go back into the spreadshhet and push the macro button to run the code it works the second time. I am using Excel 07 but have it saved as 03 version as the user has this version. I am a relative novice at VBA so apologies if it is a stupid mistake!Code:Sub quote2()'' quote2 Macro'' Stop any screen flicker Application.ScreenUpdating = False ' unprotect sheet ActiveSheet.Unprotect ("password") ' Select the values to be entered into Quotation sheet Sheets("Ready Reckoner").Select Range("A501:Y501").Select Selection.Copy Range("A502:Y502").Select Selection.PasteSpecial paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=False Range("A502:Y502").Select Selection.Copy ' Select Quotation sheet Sheets("Quotation").Select ' unprotect Quotation sheet ActiveSheet.Unprotect ("password") Worksheets("Quotation").Activate ' Paste values onto next free line (column B)on sheet Dim RowNr As Integer, r As Variant RowNr = 0 Set r = Range("B:B") Do RowNr = RowNr + 1 Loop Until r.Cells(RowNr, 1) = "" r.Cells(RowNr, 1).Select Selection.PasteSpecial paste:=xlPasteFormulas, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False Application.CutCopyMode = False Range("D1").Se

See the code snipper below: Code: 'Copy the results over to the destination worksheet Worksheets(WorksheetSource).Activate Range("B1" & ":" & CellStringOutput).Cut 'Range("B1" & ":" & CellStringOutput).ClearContents Worksheets(WorksheetOutput).Activate Range("A1" & ":" & CellStringOutput).PasteSpecial Everything is defined, and I don't see why it should have such trouble. As a matter of fact, it succesfully cuts and even selects the required range on the destination worksheet, it just doesn't paste. If I then press CTRL-V manually, it pastes without any problem... The trick and eventual goal is of course to have Excel do it for me. Hope anybody can help. Last edited by Thralni; Feb 6th, 2012 at 03:01 AM. Reason: Problem solved!
