If it scans sometimes but not others, then there is some kind of software issue. Is it a real server or a workstation being used as a "server"? Customer was having intermittent scanning and the scan logs were showing it. By the time I got there it would not scan to that computer at all. Customer removed Carbonite and then it worked fine. It has a limit on connections set to 20, and Carbonite is not on this workstation at all.
