Error 12700 Scvmm 2012
Machine Manager – P2V/V2V Question 0 Sign in to vote I have been having a consistant issue during P2V conversions. If I have the converted placed scvmm error 12700 migration on my Win 2008 R2 system (also running SCVMM) I get the following error message and recommendation: Error (12700) VMM cannot complete the Hyper-V operation on the VirtualMgt.amrinc-corp.local server because of the error: 'testV' could not initialize. (Virtual machine ID 03D6F613-71C2-4E2B-A72E-0832902B00CA) (Unknown error (0x8000)) Recommended Action Resolve the issue in Hyper-V and then could not be realized due to errors in its configuration file which could not be resolved. try the operation again. These P2V conversions were win2000 SP4 with SP4 Rollup applied. I have done 3 of these with the exact same ending error message. Now the interesting think is if I tell VMM to place the P2V conversion on my old Virtual Serverrunning on Win2003R2 it works just fine accept for Virtual Machine Integration. Any idea what might be causing this issue? Hyper-V services are not started (e.g. stopped due to an exception) Marked as answer by Carmen SummersMicrosoft employee Tuesday, September 27, 2011 6:38 PM Tuesday, June 07, 2011 9:27 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote Please check http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/virtualmachinemgrp2vv2v/thread/946ab8b7-40c5-401b-ad8e-ec804d341b43Mohamed Fawzi | http://fawzi.wordpress.com Tuesday, May 10, 2011 1:32 PM Reply | Quote
An Attempt to initialize VM saved state failed – Could Not Create or Access Saved State File #HyperV #SCVMM August 25, 2014 The Author Hyper-V, Security 0 Hello Folks, Well, after a few weeks away from work on vacation, I've finally managed to sit

back and go through all my 30 Hyper-V hosts across different remote sites from a single pane of glass, of course you guessed it? yes, yes… Virtual Machine Manager . What I've come across from browsing through the console one Virtual Machine in a particular remote site is in a Stopped state. And of course, what is the first thing you want to try to do is to power on that VM! The unexpected behavior, the VM failed to start https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/71aae7dc-13b5-46f1-b794-cc1b8085541f/error-12700-vmm-cannot-complete-the-hyperv-operation-on-the-could-not-initialize-virtual?forum=virtualmachinemgrp2vv2v with the following error : Error (12700) VMM cannot complete the host operation on the hv01.dc.net server because of the error: ‘DC01' could not initialize. (Virtual machine ID 7431245E-0FB3-45D3-B2E2-014124480F42) ‘DC01' could not create or access saved state file D:\VirtualMachines\DC01\Virtual Machines\7431245E-0FB3-45D3-B2E2-014124480F42\7431245E-0FB3-45D3-B2E2-014124480F42.vsv. (Virtual machine ID 7431245E-0FB3-45D3-B2E2-014124480F42) Unknown error (0x8001) Recommended Action Resolve the host issue and then try the operation again. As we can see in the error above that the Virtual Machine could not access the saved state file https://charbelnemnom.com/2014/08/an-attempt-to-initialize-vm-saved-state-failed-could-not-create-or-access-saved-state-file-hyperv-scvmm/ .vsv. The next logical thing is to remote into the Hyper-V host and try to dive deeper. Again the VM failed to start. As you can see in the above self-explanatory error that you do not have permission to perform this operation, therefore the issue is security permission. Two errors are logged in the Event Viewer as well: Event ID 3040: Event ID 3080: Back to basics, what files are used to create a virtual machine in Hyper-V: .XML files These files contain the virtual machine configuration details. There is one of these for each virtual machine and each checkpoint of a virtual machine. They are always named with the GUID used to internally identify the virtual machine .BIN files This file contains the memory of a virtual machine or checkpoint that is in a saved state. .VSV files This file contains the saved state from the devices associated with the virtual machine. .VHD/VHDX files These are the virtual hard disk files for the virtual machine. .AVHD files These are the differencing disk files used for virtual machine checkpoints aka (snapshots). .VFD files These are for virtual floppy disks files and rarely you use them . What are the symptoms that we observed so far: Powering on the VM in Virtual Machine Manager, Hyper-V Manager or in PowerShell would result in an error - could not create or access saved state file.
