Symptoms: 1. Error (12700): VMMError 12700 Scvmm 2012
cannot complete the Hyper-V operation on the server because of the error: Failed to create a new virtual machine. (Unknown error (0x8001)) 2. Event error 12700 scvmm 2012 r2 ID: 2912 Details: The server threw an exception (0x80010105) Case 1: On the share folder of the library shares which contained the ISO image, add "Authenticated Users" with the Read permission on NTFS and share folder. Case 2: This issue may occur if the Hyper-V host was unable scvmm error 12700 migration to read the attributes associated with the SCVMM service account in Active Directory. Try to add the Hyper-V hosts to the "Windows Authorization Access group". a. Open Active Directory Users and Computers b. Select the Built-in container c. Select the Properties of the Windows Authorization Access group d. Select the Members tab e. Add the computer object for the Hyper-V host to this group Case 3: Make sure you'll have to have every node you want to live migrate between located in the same host group in VMM. Case 4: , make sure that you have configured constrained delegation in AD on every hyper-v server that should join the migration party. first step was to migrate from the cluster to a non-cluster server using SCVMM. http://eniackb.blogspot.com/2009/06/hyper-v-scvmm-error-12700-0x8005.html The process went very well and the machine was successfully migrated http://www.isolation.se/live-vsm-migration-fails-with-mirror-operation-failed-and-access-is-denied-error/ between both hosts...Then I decide to do the other way around... When the process was at 49% it crashes with the following error:Error (12700)VMM cannot complete the Hyper-V operation on the hv01srv.domain.tld server because of the error:Import failed because the virtual machine must error 12700 have a new identifier. Select a new identifier and try the import again.(Unknown error (0x8005))Recommended ActionResolve the issue in Hyper-V and then try the operation again.Additionally you get the EVENTID 18070 on the host where you perform the operation:Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-AdminSource: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMSDate:Event ID: 18070Task Category: NoneLevel: ErrorKeywords:User: SYSTEMComputer: hv01srv.domain.tldDescription: Import failed because the error 12700 vmm virtual machine must have a new identifier. Select a new identifier and try the import again.GREAT!!!!Before telling you how to solve this, let me tell you that you can always rollback the migration process by right-clicking in the VM and choose repair and then select the Undo option and press OK. So don't panic!!!This problem occurred because when I did the migration from the HV Cluster to the Non-HV server, the file {GUIG}.xml) that identifies the VM was not deleted from cluster node. The file is in the "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines\{GUIG}.xml"Note: By default the ProgramData Folder is hidden, to view this folder you must activate the option "Show hidden folders and files" under folders option menu.Solution:To solve this error, delete the duplicated file in the destination server (if you're in a cluster configuration you may need to check all the nodes before retry the migration). How do I know the file to delete?Simple, on the source server open the:"C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines\"Do th
SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager) with VSM, moving a Virtual Machine from one Cluster to another Cluster and at the same time also to a new Storage Location, you are getting an error message similar to this: PowerShell Error (12700) VMM cannot complete the host operation on the HOST07.FABRIC.DOMAIN.COM server because of the error: Virtual machine migration operation for 'markustest01' failed at migration source 'HOST07'. The strange thing is that there is a destination folder in the new location, it's just does not copy content to that folder and aborts with the Access Denied error. But If you shutdown the VM first, so it' s just a migration over the Network, it works! The solution is to give the SOURCE Cluster Write Access on the DESTINATION Storage. When you do a VSM Migration, the destination Hyper-V host, creates the Directory on the SOFS Node, but it's the Hyper-V Host that owns the VM that copies the VHD's files to the destination storage. And as the current owner, by default does not have access to write there, it will fail. One could think that VMM should grant permissions to a host when VMM knows that the host needs to write in the location? Maybe it's fixed in the next version, but until then, there are two ways to do this. Solution 1) In VMM add the Destination SOFS Shares as Storage on the Source VM Hosts like this. That will make VMM add the VM Hosts with Modify Permissions in the SOFS Shares so it can write there. This works quite fine, if the Hyper-V Clusters and
