when installing QuickBooks Desktop: Error 1317. An error occurred while creating directory [directory]. How to fix error 1317 setup cannot create the folder it Solution 1: Download and run the QBInstall Tool. Solution 2: Manually edit the permissions In Windows Explorer, find the parent folder of your QuickBooks Desktop installation. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/872903 For example, QuickBooks defaults to C:\Program Files\Intuit as its install folder, so the parent folder would be C:\Program Files. Right-click the folder and select Properties. Click the Security tab and select the SYSTEM user located in the Group or user names section.
