I recently had cause to uninstall my copy of Office 2007 (Vista Home Premium) On reinstalling I got an 'error 1406 -setup cannot write the value to the registry key'..... The were 4 keys SketchObj.SketchInk, SketchObj.SketchInk.1, HWXInk.E-Ink and HWXInk.E-Ink.1 I continued the install by ignoring these errors and everything seems to be working OK. Those of you who Know me, know I wouldn't leave this issue alone, so having read loads of reasons for this type of error (1406) on the web (but none specifically for the ones I have !) I have tried every type of option to remedy this problem. I've run it as Administrator, I've stopped my 3rd party Antivirus and Firewall, and I've even uninstalled my 3rd party Antivirus and Firewall, all with no success ... I still get the same bloody errors !!!!!!! What really bugs me is that I reinstalled my copy of Office 2007 once before when I had to rebuild my laptop from scratch (after my experiences with Ubuntu and Raid0 configurations !!) As I said at the start, there doesn't appear to be any prob;ems with my Office Apps ... Guess all I want to really know ... Is what do these registry keys do, and should I be bothered that they weren't updated .. Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top Scott Posts: 5618 This post has been reported.
