distributed out there through different media distributions. This merge module, when installed, sets up 2 error 1406 office 2010 registry keys to HKLM.The values of the 2 registry keys are configurable from outside (NANT Script or MSBuild task). So, we change them anytime we want.I just created a new Setup and I reused the same merge module and,.. I got the unexpected error https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?141427-Error-1406-Could-not-write-value 1406 (the registry keys failed to write the values on installation time):Error 1406. Could not write value XXXXX to key \SOFTWARE\COMPANY\ETC. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personel. Why ????Good question. It happened that when I modified the Merge Module A from Nant Script, setting the properties PROPERTY1 and PROPERTY2 to a certain value, it missconfigured the Merge Module. Now, when I use that Merge Module directly from another MSI project, http://installermatters.blogspot.com/2010/05/error-1492-cant-write-on-registry.html it cannot load the properties values OK.I still don't know why :( ... but when I discover it, I will update this post. The thing is.- To solve this problem, I opened the Merge Module A project in Installshield 2010 and reassigned the values of PROPERTY1 and PROPERTY2 to the 2 properties names (for example [PROPERTY1] and [PROPERTY2].Then I rebuilt it everything again and ... this solved the problem. (I mean, when I used the rebuilt merge module with my new MSI, everything worked as expected and no error message was found on install).
