Podcasts Wiki LogIn SQL 2005 Installation Issues - Error 1706 Setup cannot find the required files Blog, Operations Manager by rorymccaw on June 23rd, 2009 After struggling with an installation of SQL2005 which I have found in the past to be fairly straight forward, I have learned that http://www.systemcentercentral.com/sql-2005-installation-issues-error-1706-setup-cannot-find-the-required-files/ there is a critical prerequisite that isn't checked during the SQL2005 setup that has to due with having Office 2007 on your server. If you want to install SQL Server 2005 on a server with Office 2007 (I realize that this isn't very common), you mayreceivethe following error: ERROR 1706 Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD ROM! For other potential solutions to this problem, see c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\1033\Setup.chm To resolve this, you must download and install the Office 2003 web components first and then install SQL Server 2005. If 'yes': Id recommend you uninstall any other SQL 2005 components that were installed before the setup failed to ensure a clean install the next time. After you have got everything uninstalled, re-run the setup and you should not have any problems ------------------ see another possible resolution : http://www.sqlnewsgroups.net/group/microsoft.public.sqlserver.server/topic22085.aspx 0 LVL 8 Overall: Level 8 MS SQL Server 8 MS SQL Server 2005 5 Message Assisted Solut
