PhotoGallery? What program does it belong to and why does Windows Installer try to install it when I reboot? Here is what happens: After rebooting I get a pop up install window http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/what-is-photogallery-and-why-does-it-keep-trying-to-install.2701649/ that says Wait while Windows configures Photo Gallery [The Install window shows progress] After a while http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/windows-xp-error-1706.65495/ there is a "PhotoGallery" window that says "The Feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the PhotoGallery disk and click OK" In that source window is the number 1. I have tried to put FrontPage and HP Printer CD in but it does not accept those. When I cancel error 1706 there is a PhotoGallery window that says "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product PhotoGallery. The Windows Installer cannot continue." Even after cancelling all pop up windows it continues to try to install. -- Sarah Sarah, Nov 9, 2006 #1 Advertisements Malke Guest Sarah wrote: > What the heck is PhotoGallery? Even after cancelling all pop up windows it > continues to try to install. > Photo Gallery is connected with your HP printer. The way to deal with this is to either: 1) Put the HP printer cd in the drive and browse to the folder that contains the Photo Gallery files. I'm sorry, but I don't know exactly where that is since I don't have an HP printer with Photo Gallery. You could check on HP's tech support site for your specific printer to get that information. 2) Or if you don't ever want to use Photo Gallery,

Upon booting up, it would open a window that said please wait while Windows configures Photo Gallery. Then asked for a photo gallery disk, choices in the window were browse,Ok and Cancel. Finally after putting up with the annoyance ,I decided to research the problem. I went into the task manager and highlighted photo gallery and clicked end task, then rebooted. Same thing again, but the only photo gallery software I used was from HP image zone for my printer. I inserted that disk and clicked ok and that cured the problem. Upon installation in the Pc, I had used the installation wizzard cause it was faster, but it was selective and did not get the full install. It would have been simple if windows would have told me to put in the HP disk. Whitetail Estate Dec 18, 2006 #1 Ididmyc600 TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 1,415 Hi You live and learn.
