Error 1706 Setup Cannot Find The Required Files Office 2010
SQL Server 2012 (Windows 7 64 bit) SQL Server > SQL error 1706 windows installer Server Setup & Upgrade Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi everybody, I have SQL Server error 1706 setup cannot find the required files office 2007 2008 R2 SP1 installed and VS 2010 SP1 installed (Ultimate edition of VS). I tried to install SQL Server 2012. I had failures with the following: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/969052 It seems it's looking for installation file of VS 2010 Ultimate. My question is - why does it looking for that file during installation of SQL Server 2012 and what should I do if I can not find it? I searched my C drive for that file using Agent Ransack and it didn't https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/2867fe21-6414-4bd9-879e-ded00716ba70/problem-installing-sql-server-2012-windows-7-64-bit?forum=sqlsetupandupgrade find it. I don't remember the exact details of how did I install the VS 2010. I found SP1 files for VS 2010 saved. What should I do now? Thanks in advance. This is what I have installed for VS Ultimate 2010. I also searched my Downloads folder and I could not find anything that looks like VS install. I really don't remember where I could have saved it (if I did). I don't have DVD media as I used MSDN Ultimate Subscription (which now has expired already) to install VS 2010. default instance. Since it was a test box, it was supposed to be a smooth sail. But it wasn't to be. DBA started the installation and it failed at the very early http://www.sqldbadiaries.com/2010/08/28/error-1706-an-installation-package-for-the-product-microsoft-sql-server-native-client-cannot-be-found/ stages of installation. While installing the SQL Native client, the installer failed and the Summary.txt read ***************** Product : SQL Native Client Error : An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package ‘sqlncli.msi'. ***************** Looking at this error message, the DBA's knee-jerk reaction was to copy the installation media all over again. The installation files error 1706 were copied again to the local server still the installation failed with the same error message. This has to be something other than the corrupt installation media. sqlncli.msi file was present in the CD1 -> Setup folder and it was valid. In order to check if any other instance of SQL Server was running, the DBA headed to services.msc console. He was right! There was an instance of SQL Server Express Edition error 1706 office already running. But this should not stop any new installation from proceeding. We wanted to get rid of that instance (since it a test box) but did not want to take any chances on a weekend. It is not strange to have wacky setups on test boxes. If we mess it up today, on a fine Monday morning the Application team will make lot of noise about their "critical" setup having issues. Instead of uninstalling the SQL Server Express Edition (2005), we decided to just uninstall the Microsoft SQL Server Native Client. It turned out to be the right choice. After uninstalling Microsoft SQL Server Native Client the SQL Server installation proceeded further and completed successfully ! No big deal but it was good enough to send some jitters to the DBA on a lazy Saturday evening.
