Windows Search Cannot Create A File When That File Already Exists

Join Now I have a Windows 7 32 bit laptop that won't search. I've searched online and tried every answer I could find, but nothing is working. The Windows Search service is stopped, and refuses to start, error 183 (cannot create a file that already exists) comes up when trying to start it manually. The really odd part is that folders under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search... are being recreated constantly. If I take ownership of them and try to delete them, I get an error that I don't have permission because 2 seconds after I took ownership the folder was recreated w/ system only permissions.If anyone has a suggestion or something else to try, I'll have access to the computer again later today. If all else fails, I can copy the user profile with Windows Easy Transfer and reimage, but there is no image backed up for this persons position so it's a 1/2 day wasted rebuilding the laptop.Thanks! agent. At some point last week the exchange brick level agent stopped working. A call was made to CA support to troubeshoot the issue. They remotely uninstalled and re-installed the agent several times, created a seperate username for the exchange agent, and checked permissions for the various services, after two days of remote assistance they claim there is a problem with our exchange server. This morning I've run the exchange agent configuration wizard several times and it fails with "Failed to configure your server". I too created a new account manually and by having the wizard create a user and assign the required permissions. I checked the permissions on the Backup Agent RPC Server and it is running. I ran profman from microsoft to check the mapi configuration is present and I have a mapi connection "arcserve" with the exchange connector. deleted it and tried the wizard, it did not recreate it, so I manually recreated it. I checked that all the domain accounts I was using were members of Backup operators, Domain admins, and Administrators security groups. I checked that they were *not* hidden in the GAL both my checking AD and running an ldap query to list hidden mailboxes. The nightly backup fails with the following error [E8601 08/31/2009 09:48:06 PM 339 Failed to connect agent. (AGENT=dbaxchg2, EC=Server-FS:Backup Agent Error -- (92) "Please configure the Exchange agent before using this option.".) ] This is a Windows 2003 SBS server with SP2 (non R2).
