Tried a bunch of advice that didn't work. Disabling McAfee did the
to 2010. The issue is due to a limited Registry File Size. Steps (3 total) 1 Edit the Registry - Type "regedit" in the "Search for programs and files" box. - Wait for "regedit.exe" to display in the list - Right-Click on the file, and select "Run As Administrator" 2 Increase the RegistrySizeLimit key - Browse to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ - Right Click on "RegistrySizeLimit" and select "Modify" - In the "Value Data" box, enter "ffffffff" (without the quotes) (that's 8 - f's) - Click OK, and close the Registry Editor 3 Reboot Conclusion Explanation: Registry file size is limited to 25% of paged pool size. Certain Software installations fill the registry with enough information to push it to just below the max file size. Increasing the RSL to "unlimited" allows it to grow up to 80% of paged pool size. Explanation of Paged pool: According to MSDN - "When a machine boots up, the Memory Manager creates two dynamically sized memory pools that kernel-mode components use to allocate system memory. These two pools are known as the Paged Pool and NonPaged Pool. Each of these pools start at an initial size that is based upon the amount of physical memory present in the system. Pool memory is a subset of available memory and is not necessarily contiguous. If necessary, these pools can grow up to a maximum size that is determined by the system at boot time." 3 Comments Mace hsc5775 Feb 21, 2012 at 10:02am thx for share Jalapeno Kynsynna Feb 21, 2012 at 02:32pm Wow thanks a lot!
