From the messages you are getting, I'm guessing SQL won't install because it still has leftover components from the last time you installed it. See this posting for Tao-Min Tan's fix for that: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlsetupandupgrade/thread/62f0cd6b-bf78-46e0-b513-1556c0866241 On the 1935 error I've been receiving: I would

An error install vc++ redistributable 2008 for visual studio 2008 occurred during the installation of assembly “Microsoft.VC80.CRT, …” Cause The Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable Package has never been installed or https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/228f31ca-c6ea-4065-b194-fca208d1af82/error-1935an-error-occurred-during-the-installation-of-assembly-microsoftvc90atl-or?forum=winservergen failed in an earlier attempt. This is a problem with Windows and the Microsoft Redistributable Package, not with Rhino's installer. However the Rhino installer is unable to successfully finish as a result. Sometimes, it is only the 64-bit version of Rhino that http://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/error1935 will not completely install. Answer Manually install the Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable Package Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update. Note, the version of these assemblies are 8.0.50727.5592 or 8.0.50727.6195. Go to the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update page Click the Download button. Download the vcredistx86.exe for 32-bit OS only. Download the vcredistx86.exe and vcredistx64.exe for 64-bit OS. Go to download location and install the redistributable(s). Upon successful install, re-install Rhino. Please refer to Help and Support for more information Definition: A 1935 error is one of the most common problems that can prevent a user from being able to install any application that uses the Microsoft Windows Installer MSIAssembly and MSIAssemblyName tables to install assemblies. In general, this error means that an error occurred Microsoft Windows Installer encountered an error while trying to install assemblies to the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) or the Win32 GAC (WinSxS). This error is considered fatal and causes setup to fail and initiate rollback. The error can be caused by a variety of reasons: Another application deletes the file while our application tries to open this file. Some driver in the file system stack intercepts a CreateFile/ReadFile etc and translates the error code to "file not found" etc. Solution Solution 1: Clear the transaction log. If you receive a 1935 error, the Windows file system transaction log has become corrupted. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this install error, you need to clear the log. Open an Administrator command prompt: Right-click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator" and click "Allow" for the elevation prompt In the command prompt, type the command below: fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\ This assumes that C: is the drive in which Vista is installed. If it is installed on another drive like D:, please change the drive letter appropriately. Reboot the system. Install Genie Timeline or GBM again. You'll find an event for it in the Windows event log. Chicken-and-egg problem, your installer needs to install the CRT before it tries to use it. And yes, you won't see it all that often since it frequently is already installed on a machine. Testing on a virgin machine is important. –Hans Passant Mar 19 '14 at 10:10 1 I don't think that's the case here. The error is coming from the commit phase of the installer. MsiPublishAssemblies is trying to commit the DLL to the SXS and throwing an error. Googling suggests this is an issue that sometimes occurs on corrupted windows installations. Google the error code and you'll get suggestions to run sfc to scan the O/S or use the system readiness tool. –Christopher Painter Mar 19 '14 at 12:57 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote I think you have a corrupted windows O/S. Otherwise it is correct to test on VM's configured with a variety of virgin operating systems that you want to support. Additionally I highly advise to never use this merge module. Instead using a bootstrapper/chainer (WiX Burn, InstallShield Setup Prereqs or Suite Installation ) to install the stand alone ver
