(access denied) when installing the .NET Framework ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Aaron StebnerAugust 17, 200555 Share 0 0 I was contacted by a customer this week who could
Error 1935 Windows 10
not install the .NET Framework 1.1 due to a 1935 error that was
Error 1935 Hresult 0x80070091
not described in my previous blog posts (here and here for example). The exact error was the following: MSI error 1935 office 2010 windows 10 (s) (E0:80) [12:44:29:575]: Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 -- Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.Vsa.Vb.CodeDOMProcessor, Version="7.0.5000.0″, PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a", Culture="neutral", FileVersion="7.10.3052.4″‘. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/926804 HRESULT: 0x80070005. assembly interface: IAssemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {7D4B5591-4C80-42BB-B0E5-F2C0CEE02C1A} As I described here, the HRESULT value 0x80070005 means "access denied". Typically this happens due to a permission (ACL) problem on one of the directories under \windows\. But in this case, the customer tried to reset the permissions and re-run setup but got the same error. I suggested looking at any anti-virus or anti-spyware software https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/astebner/2005/08/17/how-to-fix-some-1935-errors-with-hresult-0x80070005-access-denied-when-installing-the-net-framework/ because they tend to lock down files and folders to prevent malicious programs from installing themselves, and it is very hard to detect the difference between a trusted setup program and a malicious one. The customer found that they had the Sophos anti-virus program installed. They were able to successfully install the .NET Framework 1.1 by stopping the Sophos service (sweepsrv.sys) and then running .NET Framework setup. Note that in this type of scenario, you should be very careful when stopping anti-virus and anti-spyware software. What I typically do is the following: Download the setup package I want to install Disconnect from the network Stop anti-virus and anti-spyware software Install the software I downloaded in step 1 Restart anti-virus and anti-spyware software Reconnect to the network

We found this out the "hard" way, too. Reply Aaron Stebner's WebLog says: August 23, 2005 at 1:47 am Deciphering specific HRESULT va★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Aaron StebnerFebruary 1, 200568 Share 0 0 I was helping investigate a .NET Framework installation failure last week that turned out to have an interesting https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/astebner/2005/02/01/possible-cause-of-1935-error-with-hresult-0x80070002/ root cause, so I wanted to pass along the information I learned. The https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/junfeng/2004/01/31/microsoft-net-framework-1-1-setup-has-ended-prematurely/ .NET Framework was failing with a 1935 error, and the HRESULT value was 0x80070002. In general this HRESULT means "the system cannot find the file specified" - and since the .NET Framework is packaged up in a single self-extracting package, it is nearly impossible to get this particular HRESULT during setup. error 1935 One of the developers investigated a similar issue and found that this particular HRESULT can be caused by a certain type of adware running on the machine. If you launch Task Manager and then look at the Processes tab, take a look for a process named wtoolsa.exe. If this process is running, you will need to clean off this adware (for example by following the error 1935 an suggestions at this site). One note - the machine that I looked at that was infected with this adware was pretty difficult to clean up. It relaunched itself when I killed the process, it replaced entries in the Run and RunOnce keys when I deleted them. I didn't get a chance to try all of the recommended steps in the article I linked to, but I'm guessing there are some more aggressive tactics you could take to rip it off your machine. Hopefully this will help some of you solve installation issues for the .NET Framework and other products that fail with 1935 errors with HRESULT 0x80070002. This error is returned whenever an app tries to do a certain file-related operation, like opening a file, and the file is not there. The error can be caused by a variety of reasons: 1) Another application deletes the file while our application tries to open this file 2) Some driver in the file system stack i
ZhangJanuary 31, 200413 Share 0 0 This trick may have shown up somewhere else. But I still see people asking the same question. So I'll post it in my blog. Many people experience failure when installing .Net Framework 1.1 Redist. Usually you see a MSI dialog says "Internal Error 2908.". Later you will see another dialog says "Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of component xxxx. HRESULT: -2147319761". The problem usually is because a broken previous install. Rename %windir%\system32\mscoree.dll and re-install usually does the trick. This works because MSI uses existence of %windir%\system32\mscoree.dll to tell if a .Net framework is already installed. If MSI believes a .Net framework is already installed, it will use the existing .Net framework to install assemblies into GAC. Renaming mscoree.dll tricks MSI to believe .Net framework is not present. In that case MSI will do a fresh install.Fresh installs rarely fail.

Reply Junfeng Zhang says: February 6, 2004 at 4:54 pm Kyle, this is just one of the common setup problems. By no means this is the only problem. Please refer to my the other post about how to detect .Net Framework. Can you remove the registry keys described in the link Redistributing .Net Framework 1.1, and try the setup again? Reply kyle says: February 10, 2004 at 10:35 am you were right about that, i was trying to install without the wuc cd, i tried downloading everything seperatly, thought i had it, after the dotnetfx download it did install. I got it all installed, then the 1st time i went to create a project it gave me a error message and told me to re-install vs.net. so i'm gettin the wuc cd tomorrow and i'll give it another go. Thanks, kyle Reply Sunilkumar Shinde says: March 24, 2004 at 12:01 am error got 1935 Reply Pretty stupid for a smart guy... says: March 29, 2004 at 10:10 am Reply Jake says: May 28, 2004 at 11:08 pm excellent, worked a treat, thanks!!
