It is cause by having an anti-virus program running during the install. Sometimes a firewall running will cause the same problem. Try this in the order listed: 1) Physically disconnect the computer from the Internet (phone wire or RJ45 cable [LAN]). 2) Exit your anit-virus and firewall programs if they are running. 3) Install OpenOffice.org 4) Restart your anti-virus and firewall programs. Make sure they are running correctly before going to step 5. 5) Reconnect to the Internet. Dan ------------------------------------------------

Is there any text besides "INTERNAL ERROR 2908" ? Did the download page mention any prerequisites on the OS, such as a certain version of .NET ? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930511 Have you tried asking in a group whose topic is Office ? Paul Paul, Jan 28, 2009 #4 Tom Joyce Guest Hi Nate, It happened when I was doing the install. Within this problem title: "Internal Error 2908" is numerous errors. Last night I tried installing OpenOffice.org and that error came up. When it appeared, I began clicking on OK and went through every error until there wasn't anymore. The installation continued and was successful. It is just so weird. At the beginning of last week all was well with Windows XP Home Edition 2002. Then out of the blue this "Internal Error 2908" came into the picture. I would appreciate whatever help you could offer. Thank you. -- T.J.J.
