ZhangJanuary 31, 200413 Share 0 0 This trick may have shown up somewhere else. But I still see people asking the same question. So I'll post internal error 2908 windows 7 it in my blog. Many people experience failure when installing .Net Framework
Error 2908 Could Not Register Component Windows 7
1.1 Redist. Usually you see a MSI dialog says "Internal Error 2908.". Later you will see another error 1935 dialog says "Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of component xxxx. HRESULT: -2147319761". The problem usually is because a broken previous install. Rename %windir%\system32\mscoree.dll and re-install usually does the trick. This works because MSI uses existence of %windir%\system32\mscoree.dll to tell if a .Net framework is already installed. If MSI believes a .Net framework is already installed, it will use the existing .Net framework to install assemblies into GAC. Renaming mscoree.dll tricks MSI to believe .Net framework is not present. In that case MSI will do a fresh install.Fresh installs rarely fail.

Reply Junfeng Zhang says: February 6, 2004 at 4:54 pm Kyle, this is just one of the common setup problems. By no means this is the only problem. Please refer to my the other post about how to detect .Net Framework. Can you remove the registry keys described in the link Redistributing .Net Framework 1.1, and try the setup again? Reply kyle says: February 10, 2004 at 10:35 am you were right about that, i was trying to install without the wuc cd, i tried downloading everything seperatly, thought i had it, after the dotnetfx download it did install.
