Reply LuisJ February 24, 2014 at 14:03 Mine was a grease smear on the clear plastic strip (encoder) behind the print head, the smear caused not to find home. I did cause the smear canon printer error with my knuckles while cleaning the head cleaning squeegees by the ink dumps / head cleaning station. Reply CrispinR January 14, 2015 at 12:27 After several different suggested fixes were tried including that specified above to reset the "ink absorber" and those suggested by Canon for this error message on their site, I am very happy to say that the issue turned out to be the same as set out by LuisJ who had a smear on the plastic strip. Once the strip had been cleaned the printer returned to normal. Thanks Luis for posting your findings here as it really helped me. Thanks also to Satu and to Carl Norton who gave the solution for the ink absorber. Reply Joe Kelly July 28, 2015 at 10:27 Cleaning the plastic strip cleared my problem. Thanks Reply JimC October 3, 2015 at 22:53 Thanks! It was grease on the clear plastic strip that runs behind the print heads. staple... Solution 2: There is a thin plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt: there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start-up sequence. Gently clean this strip with a damp lint-free tissue. Solution 3: The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough. Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps). This repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. Libellés : Error code 4 comments: Eduardo said...
