Occasionally an error code is a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6gGdQS4Mio matter of a crossed signal between the Canon ink jet printer and the computer. Rebooting the Canon pixma printer might fix the problem with no more fuss. 1) Clear debris from carriage head to eliminate canon error 5100 Open the Canon printer and look closely for any debris such as small pieces of paper or dirt lodged inside. If such debris is found, remove it, plug Canon pixma back in and see if error code has cleared. 2) http://www.mytechtime.com/2011/10/canon-error-5100-how-to-fix.html Lubricate the purge cap If the Canon printer has excess dirt or dust you can use a damp lint free paper towel to gently clean the Canon printer. Once device is cleaned plug it back in and see if error 5100 has cleared. If cleaning and clearing the device does not work then you may need to lubricate the purge cap.The purge cap is the sliding mechanism that the printer head parks into when it is not in use. To lubricate it you will need to remove the right panel from the devise. Once the panel is removed rub a little white grease along the sliders while taking care not to get any grease on the small wipers or the black caps. Once this is done, replace the panel, plug devise back in and see if the error 5100 has cleared. 3) Paper Jammed Odds are greatest a rogue piece of paper has nested itself in like a rat in a haystack. The solution is to remove all ink cartridges and hit it with canned air, or any other filtered air blower. 4) Set the ink cartridges properly Less likely, and yet still possible is your ink cartridges need to be re-seated. If you follow the step above, after cleaning you'll be re-seated the cartridges anyway. 5) Clean the Timing film The timing film is a thin piece of pla

Basically just had to remove the piece of paper got stuck in the printer. Reply Russ December 14, 2014 at 04:24 I also used the same error 5100 method mentioned in this article, but I had to clean the clear-strip. Fixed it right up.Thanks for the post. Reply LuisJ February 24, 2014 at 14:03 Mine was a grease smear on the clear plastic strip (encoder) behind the print head, the smear caused not to find home. I did cause the smear with my knuckles while cleaning the head cleaning squeegees by the ink dumps / head cleaning station. Reply CrispinR January error 5100 canon 14, 2015 at 12:27 After several different suggested fixes were tried including that specified above to reset the "ink absorber" and those suggested by Canon for this error message on their site, I am very happy to say that the issue turned out to be the same as set out by LuisJ who had a smear on the plastic strip. Once the strip had been cleaned the printer returned to normal. Thanks Luis for posting your findings here as it really helped me. Thanks also to Satu and to Carl Norton who gave the solution for the ink absorber. Reply Joe Kelly July 28, 2015 at 10:27 Cleaning the plastic strip cleared my problem. Thanks Reply JimC October 3, 2015 at 22:53 Thanks! It was grease on the clear plastic strip that runs behind the print heads. Now it works fine.Leave a ReplyClick here to cancel reply.Name Email (optional) Comment Notify me of follow-up comments by email. staple... Solution 2: There is a thin plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt: there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start-up sequence. Gently clean this strip with a damp lint-free tissue. Solution 3: The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough. Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps). This repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. Libellés : Error code 4 comments: Eduardo said... Turns out it wasn't a dirty strip, but a long piece of curly yellow ribbon that had somehow gotten inside and wrapped itself around that area. Life with a 2-year-old.
